Due to Coral Island being still in Early Access, it’s no surprise that things change drastically when the game gets updated. A recent update completely changed the method for making hay, for example!

If you’re a bit lost and have no idea how to make hay now, you’ve come to the right place. Read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the new hay-making method.

The New Way to Make Hay in Coral Island

As said before, you can no longer use Mills to make hay. Instead, you will need to use a Dehydrator.

Dehydrators can be crafted once your Diving skill reaches level 4. It requires 30 Scrap, 2 Silver Kelp Essence, 5 Sea Salt, and 2 Bronze Bars.

Once you make and place a Dehydrator, you will need to bring Fiber to it. It will process 2 Fiber to produce 1 Hay.

Fiber can be mostly found when cutting grass and weeds with a scythe. It can also be found randomly when rummaging in trash cans.

Fiber can be hard to come through, but this is the only method to make hay currently. However, you can sidestep the need to make it yourself!

The first alternate method is to just buy hay. Jack sells it at the Ranch Shop for 30 coins a piece. It’s somewhat expensive, but you won’t need to bother with Dehydrators and Fiber.

Additionally, you can just use another resource entirely to feed your animals! Plant Grass Starters on your farm and let your animals out of their pens. They will eat the grass instead of needing hay.

Grass Starters can be bought from Sam’s General Shop for 10 coins a piece. You will have to wait sometime for grass to grow, especially during winter, but it’s a much cheaper way to feed your animals.

Either way, that’s all there is to know about hay in the current version of Coral Island!
