F1 Manager 22: Beginner’s Guide | Top Builds, Tyres, Strategies to Use
F1 Manager 22 is the first game in the F1 Manager series. As such, everyone starts as a complete beginner, so a few useful tips can definitely go a long way.
Unlike games in the F1 series, F1 Manager 22 is all about managing cars and drivers while keeping a cool head both on and off the race track. With completely new mechanics that require a different set of skills, it’s easy to get lost in what you have to do in the game.
That said, we all start as beginners in this game, which is why I have crafted some useful tips that will help guide you throughout the game.
Beginner’s Guide | Top Builds, Tyres, Strategies to Use in F1 Manager 22
Regardless if you have prior knowledge regarding Formula 1 or not, these tips will surely be of help to you. Let’s get started.
Get into Development Right Away
As soon as you enter the game, the very first thing you should do is start your team’s development. You’ll find various parts to choose from, and your choice will affect the overall performance of your cars. Ideally, you want to start with the big parts like the underfloor and the chassis as they have a major impact on various attributes.
At this point, the only part you don’t want to focus on is the suspension. This is because you’ll receive a new and better version right after your very first race. You can think of this as a freebie for getting into the development phase.
Perform Practice Sessions
Practice sessions might sound boring and tedious, but they actually offer you a lot of benefits. For one, doing practice sessions let you test the performance of your car and make adjustments to your setup. Not only that, but your drivers will also obtain bonus points on their attributes whenever they succeed.
While you can let AI just do this activity, I would highly recommend doing it manually so you can get a feel of how to monitor your drivers’ comments. These comments will be highly instrumental to creating a perfect setup as they let you know which aspects of your car need more fine-tuning.
Then, once you have made the right adjustments, make sure to do another test run until you come up with the optimal setup.
Monitor the Competition
There are tons of information that the game will give you. In fact, it even provides you with data about your rivals. As a beginner, you might just ignore most of them. However, one thing I do recommend checking is your rival’s statistics, particularly their tyres and lap times. You want to compare those with yours.
By knowing your rival’s current status, you’ll be able to come up with a solid strategy on the racetrack. For example, if you notice that your rival’s tyre is almost about to wear out, it could mean that they’ll be stopping a lot more often.
Focus on Your Objective
Lastly, you want to keep your eyes on the goal. As you start the races, you’ll come to realize that aiming for the next best position is quite addicting. You’ll have that urge to always overtake the car that’s right in front of you. However, this is a trap you don’t want to fall into.
Instead, what you should do is to focus on your objective and learn to know your limits. While it’s true that staying in your opponents’ DRS window can give you an advantage, that advantage won’t last for long. You’ll find that your tyres will wear out quickly, and you won’t even realize that the real threat are the cars right behind you.
So as you start a race, always keep in mind that the cars in front of you are not your only rivals. Instead, the ones that are right behind you might even be the bigger threat. What this means is that you want to conserve your resources. This way, you can secure your position instead of hopelessly overtaking the ones at the front.
