Another common resource in Slime Rancher 2, Silky Sand is needed to upgrade your inventory (vac pack) and is used for crafting various gadgets as a ‘rare’ resource. We’ll explain where to locate it on Rainbow Island.

Silky Sands is one of the items required to craft the ‘Extra Tank’ upgrade to your vac pack via the Fabricator.

This upgrade requires:

  • 10 Silky Sands
  • 1,500 Newbucks
  • 10 Rock Plorts.

This upgrade allows you to carry an entire additional stack of any item in your vac.

Given that the Silky Sands are probably the most difficult part of the recipe to obtain, we’ve got a handy guide for you on where to find Silky Sands on Rainbow Island – specifically Ember Valley.

Where to Find Silky Sands in Slime Rancher 2

While Silky Sands can be found in a couple of places, the most common locales will be the sandy beaches near the edge of the shore. A great spot for this is in Ember Valley, where players will see the Silky Sands coming out of long brown spouts. They look sort of like mud geysers.

You’ll also be able to locate them near the starting point of Starlight Strand. Just try your best to avoid the potential feral slimes that may stand in your way.

Once you’ve located the Silky Sands and identified them, simply use your vac pack on them to collect after interacting with them.

For this, you will – of course – need the Resource Harvester upgrade from the Fabricator, if you haven’t already upgraded.

The Resource Harvester can be obtained via 450 Newbucks and 10 Cotton Plorts, both of which are easily obtained early on in the game.
