Of the many monsters you’ll encounter in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, the Del Lago lake monster is probably one of the most annoying to deal with. At least in my personal experience!
Not only does it move around like crazy, but the entire fight takes a lot of time to complete as well! Then there’s the fact that it’s outright scary.
If you’ve been frustrated fighting this monster as well, this guide should ease a little bit of that frustration.
Killing the Del Lago Lake Monster in Resident Evil 4 Remake
To say that the Del Lago lake monster is huge is an understatement. The monster is massive, and if you have a fear of aquatic monsters in general, you might have a hard time beating this one.
You start the encounter with a brief cutscene where Leon fills up the boat with fuel. As he hops onto the boat, another cutscene will then play, and shortly after, the fight begins.
What makes this fight annoying is that the boat is strapped to the monster’s tail via a harpoon. Basically, the monster will tug you around as it tries to swim around the lake.
The fight is not particularly hard; rather, it’s annoying since you have to hit the monster with harpoons as it swims around the lake. On some occasions, the monster will even charge at the boat, knocking you off of it.
Regardless, all you really have to do is shower it with harpoons. Since it’s huge, you will be able to hit it most of the time.
This will go on for a few minutes. After a few well-placed hits, you should be able to defeat the monster. At the same time, you will unlock the rare Harpoon Hurler achievement.
