Song of the Prairie allows you to hire farmhands to work on your farm, which you will definitely need as your farm’s size increases.
They will water and reap crops automatically for you, greatly reducing the amount of manual labor you must do. This will give you more time to explore new areas, such as the mines.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to hire people to work on your farm!
How to Hire Workers in Song of the Prairie
You will unlock the ability to hire farmhands once you’ve made enough progress into the game’s main questline.
Specifically, you will need to complete quests until you officially become the mayor. You won’t be able to hire anyone until then, so keep completing the main story quests if you haven’t reached that point.
After you’ve become mayor, you will need to craft two stations within your farm.
First, build a Workstation. This is what will allow you to hire workers to help at your farm. Also make a Collection Box, which is where your workers will deposit what they gather.
Place down both of these on your farm and you will be able to hire farmhands but note that they will only work within the designated area.
You will need to build more Workstations and Collection Boxes if you want your workers to cover more of your farm, but it’s definitely well worth it!
Now, go to the Guild Station in town. There are a lot of NPCs in this area! Some are selling goods, others can be invited to become part of your town, and some will have both options.
Either way, just approach the worker you want and ask them if they will consider joining the town. Note that you have a limited amount of invitations to send per day, so use them wisely.
They will be counted as an immigrant once they move into town, which can be checked from the Guild at any time.
Lastly, go back to your farm and interact with the Workstation you made. Assign whichever immigrant you want as your worker and they will automatically get to work!
That’s all there is to it! Farmhands won’t automatically sow seeds, but they will tend to everything you plant which saves you a lot of time when your farm gets too large.
