How to Get to Snow Area in Elden Ring

As you journey to become the Elden Lord, you will need to go to the snowy Mountaintops of the Giants which is near the end of Elden Ring.

You will need to defeat many bosses and acquire a key item to even be able to set foot inside of it, however.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how you can exactly reach the Mountaintops area.

How to Reach the Mountaintops of the Giants in Elden Ring

You will get to the Mountaintops of the Giants as part of the game’s story after going through Leyndell. It’s where you’ll meet one of the most annoying bosses in the game.

Once you reach the Altus Plateau region, follow the Guidance of Grace leading you toward the capital. It’s a massive white city that rests at the foot of the Erdtree.

Once you reach Leyndell, make your way up to the top of the city. You will need to climb over the massive dragon corpse that rests in the city and then go up the Erdtree’s roots.

As you get to the top of the western rampart, you will stumble upon a boss fight: the spirit of Godfrey! He’s not very tough and has slow attacks, but he deals massive damage if you’re not careful.

After taking care of that boss, continue climbing up the Erdtree’s roots until you will reach another boss.

This time, Morgott, The Omen King (which is Margit, the Fell Omen’s true identity) will appear to put your ambitions to rest.

He uses a lot of the same moves he used as Margit, such as his spirit hammer and daggers. He’s extremely mobile and likes to delay his attacks to trip you up.

Once you defeat Morgott, proceed toward the Erdtree. You will notice that the entrance is sealed by thorns to prevent you from progressing.

Backtrack to the Site of Grace that appeared once you defeated Morgott. Rest at it and Melina will appear. She will then give you the Rold Medallion.

You will need the Rold Medallion to operate the Grand Lift of Rold which leads directly to the snowy Mountaintops of the Giants.

Finding and Riding the Grand Lift of Rold

The Grand Lift of Rold is accessed directly from Leyndell on the eastern side of the city. From the Avenue Balcony site of grace, go up the stairs and turn left. You should reach a massive door.

Open it and move forward to reach an area with lots of Misbegotten and Perfurmers.

Go past the enemies until you reach a lift. Pull the lever and go up. You will be in front of a straight path with Leyndell Knights.

Take care of the knights and go down the path until you reach an elevator. Step on the pressure plate to activate it and go down.

Exit the building until you eventually arrive at the snowy Forbidden Lands. This area is a linear path to the Grand Lift of Rold, so hop on Torrent and traverse this foggy region while heading northeast.

Once you reach the Grand Lift of Rold, use the Rold Medallion and ride the lift. Congratulations, you’re now on the Mountaintops of the Giants!

As a bonus tip, you can access a secret area if you gather both pieces of the Haligtree Secret Medallion and bring it to the lift.
