Honkai: Star Rail’s Relics are basically the equivalent of Artifacts in Genshin Impact. They are these special materials that you can equip on your characters to give them major stat boosts.
Moreover, they come in various rarities, and the higher a Relic’s rarity is, the better effects it will give.
That said, before you can equip Relics on your characters, you should first learn how to unlock them. This guide will show you how.
How to Unlock Relics in Honkai: Star Rail
Before you can start farming for Relics, you should first unlock the ability to equip them. You will be able to find the Relics tab on your Character Details page just below the Traces tab.
But first, you have to unlock them by going through a mission called Ones Fallen Into the Abyss.
This one is pretty straightforward. Start by talking to Seele at the entrance to the Great Mine. Enter the Great Mine afterward and just follow the quest marker.
Eventually, you will come across Natasha and a long conversation will occur. Just exhaust the conversation, and at the very end, the Relics feature will then become available.
The game will then walk you through the basics of Relics, how you can equip them, what are their effects, etc. You will also receive your first two Cavern Relics.
Where to Obtain Relics in the Game
You want to keep in mind that Relics come in two categories. There’s the Cavern Relics which includes a set of four pieces of equipment including the Hands, Head, Feet, and Body.
You will be able to unlock a set’s special bonuses if you wear two or four pieces of Relics that belong to a particular set. Obviously, you’ll be able to unlock all effects when you wear four of them.
Then there are the Planar Ornaments which are special relics that feature the Link Rope and Planar Sphere. Unlike Cavern Relics, you only need two pieces of Planar Ornaments to benefit from a set’s full effects.
Moreover, each of the Relics can be obtained in two different locations.
For the Cavern Relics, you need to head to the Cavern of Corrosion to farm them. You will be able to unlock the Cavern of Corrosion by going through the main story in Jarilo-VI.
Meanwhile, you can only obtain Planar Ornaments from the Simulated Universe. To do so, you need to access it through Herta’s Office.
However, do take note that they only drop in World 3 and beyond.
