A Plague Tale Requiem is the much-awaited sequel of the highly successful A Plague Tale: Innocence. The series is a well-received stealth adventure game. Besides its gorgeous background, it has a compelling story about two children trying to survive a terrible plague in 14th-century France.
As with most stealth adventure games, the game lets players progress through the story by accomplishing stealth puzzles by either sneaking past enemies or using their ingenuity to eliminate them.
In Chapter 1, we are introduced to a group of crazy Beekeepers. They mistake our characters for the serial thieves who took their honey production. This guide will teach you how to get through the level and safely escape the Beekeepers.
How to Escape the Beekeepers
Escaping the Beekeepers is the first challenge you come across in A Plague Tale: Requiem. Although it is not particularly hard or effortless, it serves as an introduction to the game’s mechanics(ways to sneak past enemies, or distract them, e.t.c)
After being discovered by the first Beekeeper you encounter, you will be presented with your first challenge – a locked door. Fortunately, this is the first chapter so a lot of puzzle solutions will be revealed through dialogue. So, listen carefully to what the characters are saying.
To the right of the locked door will be a gap you can go through.
Afterward, continue onto the path and go through the tight gap to hide under the grass. The beekeepers then will do their dialogue and actions for a while.
Make sure to stay crouched in the grass to stay silent. When the coast is clear, slowly make your way(while hiding in tall grass) toward the hut and once it’s safe, go inside the hut to reach the backdoor.
You will be introduced to a method you can use to distract enemies. This particular beekeeper in red won’t move, so it’s time to distract him by making the toolbox on the left make a noise. To throw a rock at the toolbox, simply Hold L2 and aim for the toolbox then press R2 to release.
Once he’s distracted, simply crouch and walk across to get past him. After a short dialogue, climb on the wooden structure on the left and go under the wooden shelf.
After crossing the shelf, Amicia will be bitten by a bee causing her to let out a little shriek, alerting the Beekeeper of the noise. You need to quickly distract him. To do this, press triangle to quickly distract an enemy that has been alerted by your presence.
There will also be instances that objects within the game can be thrown to cause a distraction. The next Beekeeper is a perfect example of this scenario. Use the pot on the left to throw it onto a surface.
Throw it in a direction that you want him to face, so that you can safely cross to the other side.
Finally, you will encounter the exit door. The bad news is – it’s locked but the good news is there’s a gap on the left. However, only Hugo can fit in the gap. Hold L1 at the passage and press the triangle to ask him to go through.
After a while, Hugo will unlock the door, accomplishing the first chapter of A Plague Tale: Requiem.
