Argenta is one of the first companions you get in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, which allows you to make very unique builds with her, such as a sniper build.

Unlike other characters, Argenta as a sniper is surprisingly versatile. She can deftly switch between sniping and using burst-fire weapons depending on your needs!

In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to make Argenta into a professional sniper.

Argenta, the Sister of Battle, is one of the first companions you recruit in the game. She joins you during the tutorial, which means she joins at a very low level.

This makes her extremely versatile to build, as you get free reign of what to pick for her entire Soldier archetype. Plus, you get to pick her second Archetype as well!

That said, Argenta does generally play best as a ranged-weapon-focused character.

Most players opt to have her leading the charge into battle by using burst-fire weapons and the like, but having her as a sniper can be just as devastating!

This build particularly excels when aided by an Officer, as the Officer can increase Argenta’s damage greatly while giving her extra turns.

But, honestly, everyone excels when paired with an Officer in this game!

Anyway, having Argenta as a sniper makes her more than capable of absolutely destroying enemies from far away.

Most enemies shouldn’t even pose a threat, as Argenta can just one-shot them before they get too close for comfort.

Additionally, Argenta is also naturally strong with burst-fire weapons and this sniper build doesn’t neuter that.

Argenta will be able to swap to burst-fire guns when sniping is less than ideal. She’ll have more versatility than similar builds for other characters, such as the Sniper Assassin Yrliet.

Example of how much damage Argenta can do as a Sniper

All in all, Argenta as a Sniper is both incredibly powerful and very versatile!

The one downside to this build is that you will need to have Argenta specialize in Lore (Xenos) so she can make use of laser sniper rifles. It’s a bit out of character for her but recommended for gameplay.

Most of the powerful sniper rifles you’ll find during the game just happen to be laser weapons!

Now, let’s look at this build’s progression.

Levels 4 to 15: Soldier

Argenta starts out as a Soldier archetype and can’t be changed out of it at all. That said, she joins so early that you get to do whatever you want with her talent and ability choices!

When it comes to making the most of sniping, though, these are the leveling choices we recommend:

  • Level 4 – “Camaraderie” talent.
  • Level 5 – Agility attribute increase and “Swift Slaughter” talent.
  • Level 6 – Agility attribute increase and “Dash” ability.
  • Level 7 – Ballistic Skill attribute increase and “Laser Weapon Expert” talent.
  • Level 8 – “Rapid Reload” talent and Demolition skill increase.
  • Level 9 – Any “Firearm Mastery” upgrade you want.

  • Level 10 – “Fired Up” talent and Ballistic Skill attribute increase.
  • Level 11 – “Rapid Fire” ability and Awareness skill increase.
  • Level 12 – Perception attribute increase and “It Will Not Die” talent.
  • Level 13 – “Integrity” talent. Also get either “Nimble” or “Base Skill: Demolition” for your second talent.
  • Level 14 – If you picked “Nimble” previously, get “Base Skill: Demolition”. If you got ”Base Skill: Demolition”, choose either “Nimble” or “Advanced Skill: Demolition”. Also, get Awareness skill increase.
  • Level 15 – Any “Firearm Mastery” upgrade you want.

Levels 16 to 35: Bounty Hunter

Once Argenta hits Level 16, you will want to get Bounty Hunter for her advanced Archetype. Bounty Hunter isn’t one of the best archetypes in the game, but it pairs really well with sniper rifles.

Now, here are the recommended leveling choices:

  • Level 16 – “Hunt Down the Prey” ability, automatically unlocked once you get Bounty Hunter.
  • Level 17 – “Claim the Bounty” ability.
  • Level 18 – “Heightened Concentration” talent.
  • Level 19 – “Wild Hunt” Heroic Action automatic unlock.
  • Level 20 – “AP Increase” improvement. Also, Agility attribute increase and “Base Skill: Lore (Xenos)” talent.

  • Level 21 – Agility attribute increase and “Hunting Surge” talent.
  • Level 22 – “Cull the Bold” ability.
  • Level 23 – “Flay the Bold” talent and Demolition skill increase.
  • Level 24 – Ballistic Skill attribute increase and “Aeldari Weapon Proficiency” talent.
  • Level 25 – “Expert Finesse” talent.
  • Level 26 – Demolition skill increase and Ballistic Skill attribute increase.
  • Level 27 – Any “Wild Hunt” upgrade you want.
  • Level 28 – “Inspiring Trophy” talent.
  • Level 29 – Awareness skill increase and Perception attribute increase.

  • Level 30 – “Characteristic Training: Agility” talent. Though you can also get “Grenadier”, “Ready to Serve”, or “Doing My Part” if you would prefer. Also, get the “Ensnare the Prey” ability.
  • Level 31 – “Gruesome Kill” talent.
  • Level 32 – Perception attribute increase and Awareness skill increase.
  • Level 33 – “Hunter’s Ambush” talent.
  • Level 34 – “Stronger Together” talent.
  • Level 35 – Any “Wild Hunt” upgrade you want.

Levels 36 and Beyond: Exemplar

At long last, Argenta can pick up the Exemplar archetype at Level 36. There’s not much to pick from this archetype, truth be told.

The fact that we get Argenta so early means that we don’t have to use Exemplar to make up for poor preset level-up choices.

Instead, we’ll mostly just get some Exemplar-exclusive talents to finish up the build, as follows:

  • Level 36 – “Extermination” and “Litany of Hatred” talents.
  • Level 37 – Demolition skill increase and any talent you want. “Doing My Part” and “Ready to Serve” are good choices here if you haven’t picked them previously.
  • Level 38 – Agility attribute increase and any talent you want. Using a “Characteristic Training” talent to boost Agility or Ballistic Skill is a good idea here.
  • Level 39 – “Concentrated Fire” ability and Demolition skill increase.
  • Level 40 – “Cataclysm” talent and any other talent you want. “Doing My Part” and “Ready to Serve” are still good picks at this point, if you don’t have both already.

Now, your Argenta should be all set! You can keep leveling up past Level 40, of course, but at this point, it’s up to you to choose what you want.
