One of the most devastating problems you can run into after purchasing a new game are the ones that won’t allow the game to even launch.
Unfortunately, it seems a lot of players have experienced those once they got their hands on the newest RTS set in the Warhammer universe. Here are the possible causes and solutions.
Fixing Total War: Warhammer 3’s “Not Launching” Issue
Before you start fiddling with the game files or reinstalling your drives, make sure the game really doesn’t launch.
It sounds crazy, but first launch of Total War: Warhammer 3 can take up to 30(!) minutes. All following launches should only take a few seconds.
Also, make sure that your computer is connected to the internet during the first launch. But, if even then the game doesn’t seem to work, you’ll need to make sure that you have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables installed and your graphics card drivers updated.
Repairing the Game Files
If all else fails, you can always try to repair the game’s files. These sometimes get corrupted during download. How you’ll do it depends on the platform you used to purchase the game.
On steam:
- Go to Library
- Right-click on Total War: WARHAMMER III
- Select Properties
- Go to the “Local Files” tab.
- Click the “Verify integrity of game files” button.
- Once the process is complete, restart Steam.
- If you’re using Epic Games Store:
- Open Epic Games Launcher
- Go to Library
- Click the three dots under Total War: WARHAMMER III
- Select Verify
- If the game is on the Microsoft Store:
- Go to Windows Settings
- Click Apps
- Select Total War: WARHAMMER III in the list in the Apps & features tab.
- Click Advanced options
- Select Repair
If that also doesn’t work, you can try installing the game on a different drive or in another folder. But remember that even if you’ll be able to repair the game, it can still take an insane amount of time to launch the first time.
