Throne & Liberty has a lot of exploration objectives for completionists who care to do them, as unnecessary as they may be to the core grind of the game. Some of the steps may be a bit obtuse, so in this guide, we’ll help you with the “Qualification of Being a Guild Owner” chain under the Sandworm Lair codex entry.
Qualification of Being a Guild Owner Exploration Guide
Lucky you, I haven’t done this myself, so let’s walk through this codex together! First, let’s click on the favorite button (the star icon) in the upper right corner of the entry itself. This will ensure that each step is marked on your map.
Just make sure not to have too many things favorited, or else things might get a little confusing. Now, let’s go through each step for “Qualification of Being a Guild Owner”!
Step #1 – Find the Ornate Chest
This one is incredibly simple. All you need to do is go to the middle of the Sandworm Lair zone, which is conveniently close to a teleport waypoint. Just follow the highlighted circle in the map, which should be, as expected, right in the center. Watch out for the aggressive sandworms!
Stick to the high ground and you will eventually find the Ornate Chest under a natural bridge. It should have a light blue mark floating above it, making it incredibly easy to spot from a distance. Simply drop on top of it or use your flying morph to get there.
Upon interacting with the chest, the step should be completed, and you will receive 3x Tasty Food Selection Chests as a reward. On to the next one!
Step #2 – Finding the Overzealous Merchant
For your next objective, you will have to talk to the Overzealous Merchant, who can be found at the Western Gathering Campsite. This is just to the southwest of the Sandworm Lair.
The NPC itself will conveniently be marked on the map. Just follow the flashing light blue icon in your minimap and you’ll get to her eventually. Upon speaking with her, she will show you a drawing, or at least a part of it.
She will ask you to find the remaining pieces of what appears to be a clue to some sort of hidden treasure. Naturally, your next objective will be to find these torn bits of paper.
Upon completing the dialogue with the NPC, you will receive some regular recovery crystals as a reward. Nothing too exciting, so let’s proceed to the next step!
Step #3 – Back Into the Sandworm Lair
In order to find the third piece of the drawing, you will need to return to the Sandworm Lair. Head through the path to the northeast of the Gathering Campsite and just keep following the linear path until you find a way down into the hatchery.
Since we favorited the side questearlier, we just need to follow the highlighted part of the map as usual. As you descend into the hatchery and follow the circle in your map, you will come across a grappling hook spot.
Take the hook to reach higher ground and then turn around. From that elevated spot, you should be able to see another marked Ornate Chest below.
Jump off and glide towards it to get the next piece of the drawing! This will also reward you with 2x quality base material selection chests. Now, for the last piece of the puzzle…
Step #4 – Finding the Final Piece
For this next one, I highly recommend teleporting to the Sandworm Lair Waypoint. This next one will require you to get really high. From the waypoint, you will want to go straight north, while still sticking to high ground.
Cross the natural bridge and head over to the Monster Researcher NPC, who is standing beside a campfire that you can use to regenerate some health and mana. Right behind him will be some grapple spots.
You will want to jump on the rocks and use the orange one to launch yourself onto the cliff above. From there, just follow the blue grapple spots until you reach the very top, where the next Ornate Chest will be waiting for you.
Upon doing this, you will now unveil the clue to where you have to go next. Completion of this step will reward you with 3x rare attack remedies.
Step #5 – Following the Picture’s Steps
As the clue stated, you will now be heading to the Queen’s Trap sub-area of the Sandworm Lair zone. In case you accidentally closed the picture or were mashing through the dialogue throughout this (I don’t blame you), you can still view the picture again.
To check the picture once more, just open the codex and switch over to the Collection tab. There, you will find the clue under the “Near the Sanctuary Oasis” category, where it is labeled as “Picture of the Guild Owner”
Now, you will probably notice that there is no map marker for this step. It’s quite simple though, as you just need to go to where the Queen’s Trap text is on the map itself. In the highlighted part of the image below, you will find yet another Ornate Chest (unmarked and unlabeled).
There are many ways to get here, including just walking up to it and using the blue grapple spot nearby. Just glide down from the previous chest and walk on over to this spot shown below.
Once you open it, you will receive the seal that the NPC from earlier was looking for. You will also be rewarded with some more quality material selection chests (six, to be precise).
Step #6 – Wrapping Things Up
To finish the quest, all you need to do now is return to the Overzealous Merchant from earlier. I recommend teleporting to the waypoint once more just so you don’t have to run through a lot of aggressive sandworms and waste stamina.
Simply hand the seal over to the Overzealous Merchant and this quest chain for the Sandworm Lair should be completed. As a final reward, you will receive six quality polished crystals.
And that is pretty much it for this codex entry, and there are at least four more to complete in this region if you haven’t already. While you are here, you may as well check out our guide on how to complete the Traces of the Missing codex entry too, which involves clearing one of the earliest open-world dungeons in the game!
