This dungeon can be a bit tricky, but with our step-by-step guide, you’ll be knocking out the objectives in no time. I’ll be showing you where to find important items, how to navigate the dungeon, and what to expect when facing enemies!
Traces of the Missing Exploration Codex Guide
The “Traces of the Missing” Exploration Codex is composed of 4 objectives and to complete them, you’ll have to make your way to the Syleus’ Abyss dungeon:
- Collect a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Syleus’ Abyss;
- Investigate the Decayed Coffin (2/2). Yes, you’ll actually have to interact with two coffins;
- Defeat Spectermancer (2/2). You can find them in 2F;
- Defeat Spectral Shadowmancer (2/2). You can find them in 2F as well.
For the first objective, you can find the Expedition Records page just right next to the entrance. The specific location is shown in the image below.
Up next, you’ll have to investigate the Decayed Coffin/s (You have to interact with two). You can find them by following the sky blue-colored diamonds on the minimap. Simply interact with them, long press, and a Dark Skeleton mob will spawn — Simply defeat it for the objective to count.

For the next two objectives, which are to defeat 2 Spectral Shadowmancers and 2 Spectermancers, you’ll have to go to 2F. You can easily do that by going into the middle of the 1F, where you’ll see a hole. Jump down to reach 2F.
Now, from there, you’ll have to wait for blue and green portals to spawn on the minimap, which is indicated by red skull icons as shown in the image below.
I recommend checking the area around Void Altar, as this is where the bosses usually spawn (At least for me). The green portal will spawn Spectermancer/s and the blue portal will spawn Spectral Shadowmancer/s. Defeat them and you’ll complete the quest.
If a portal disappears, you might have to wait for it to respawn or find another spot where they can show up.
Remember, if there’s no portal, there’s no boss. Check everywhere on the second floor for these portals. And make sure to bring a friend, because soloing can be tough at this point. Once you defeat that final boss, you’re done with the Traces of the Missing quest!
