“The World Tree and Red Fog” is the main quest of Chapter 12 in Throne & Liberty, and at one point it will require you to burn down a certain contaminated branch.

To do this, you’ll need to solve a relatively basic puzzle. This will help the tree grow a new lifebringing branch, as well as give you deeper access into the Holy Tree’s Sanctuary. You can’t continue the story without doing this, basically!

In this short guide, we’ll tell you how to burn down the contaminated branch with ease.

Burn Down the Contaminated Branch | “The World Tree and Red Fog” Quest Guide

You’ll get the objective to burn the Contaminated Branch shortly after you reach the World’s Tree Heart and meet Aramo as part of the quest. Shortly after the introduction, Aramo will tell you to use the “Memory of Joy” and “Memory of Sorrow” to change the sanctuary’s weather. These are the floating orbs right next to Aramo.

These orbs can change the sanctuary’s current weather as follows:

  • Memory of Joy – Switches between day and night time.
  • Memory of Sorrow – Changes the weather between clear and rainy.

With that in mind, you want to use both orbs so that it’s daytime and it isn’t rainy. This will allow you to reach the Twilight Tree and obtain its flame. If you’re right in front of Aramo, the Twilight Tree is in front of you and to the left, as shown above.

Simply approach the flaming tree and interact with it to obtain the Twilight Flame.

Then, turn around and go back to the main islet you were on before. You should instantly notice the Contaminated Branch to your left, covered in a dark red fog. Interact with it and use the Twilight Flame to burn it all down!

That’s all there is to it! You now know how to burn down the Contaminated Branch so that you can continue Chapter 12: The World Tree and Red Fog in Throne & Liberty.
