Slime Rancher 2: Primordy Oil Location Guide

While some guides may proclaim Primordy Oil can only be found in one single location (within Ember Valley), this is not the case.

Keeping an eye out for spewing geysers of black gunk, you can find Primordy Oil both within Ember Valley and Starlight Strand.

That being said, there are specific things to make note of that’ll help you more easily locate the precious oil, along with one ‘hotspot’ on Ember Valley that many players seem to have success with. We’ll go over all the details in our Primordy Oil Location Guide.

As always, with any ‘resource’ in Slime Rancher 2 that requires the use of the VacPack, you’ll want to ensure you’ve attained the Resource Harvester upgrade. You’ll also have to gain access to the region of Ember Valley if you don’t already have it.

Primordy Oil Location Guide for Slime Rancher 2

While geyser-like deposits of Primordy Oil can be found anywhere within the two aforementioned regions, it is much less common than the similar looking Deep Brine, and your best bet to locate the oil is in Ember Valley.

More specifically, the caves on the southern side of Ember Valley seem to prove fruitful, along with the northern region.

One cave location where Puddle Slimes are found in abundance seems to have multiple geysers of the oil. To access this location, head to the southern part of Ember Valley, and look for an area filled up with Angler Slimes. From here, use the geyser in the area with the waterfall to be brought up to a ledge atop a cliff.

After you’ve successfully gotten onto the ledge, look behind the waterfall for another ledge leading into a cave. Once you’re inside the cave, locate another geyser, which will help bring you up to some stone statues. Follow the path to the right, into a new area filled with water, Puddle Slimes, and Primordy Oil.

You’ll always want to keep an eye out for areas with significant fire – you’ll also find Lava Dust within these areas. Primordy Oil is a little similar to Lava Dust, but you’re looking for black, goo-like geysers inside of those with lava fragments.

Once you find a spot with a black geyser, use your VacPack on it to obtain the Primordy Oil from the gunky liquid.  

Once you’ve obtained your Primordy Oil, simply go ahead and deposit it into the Refinery to use with your other Slime Science resources for later.
