AndrésThe Chinese Shop Apartment sweatshop is the first proper property you’ll get in Schedule 1, as it’s a solid step up from the Motel room.
However, this apartment is quite tiny. There’s not much space for you to use, so you really need to plan things out to make the most of it. Worry not, though, you’ll get your money’s worth and then some with our guide!
Read on and we’ll tell you the best setup we know of for the Chinese Shop Apartment sweatshop.
Best Sweatshop Apartment Setup Guide | Schedule 1

For this China Shop Apartment sweatshop setup, you’ll ideally want to reach the Hustler V Rank. At that point, you’ll unlock the warehouse south of your Motel Room. This is required to hire a Botanist and use Oscar’s Store. It has some key equipment that will make the setup better. It’s not fully required, as we’ll also give you a lower-level equivalent, however.
Nonetheless, here’s a shopping list of everything you’ll need for the optimal version of this setup and where to buy it:
- Moisture Preserving Pot x8 – Oscar’s Store ($400 Total)
- Suspension Rack x8 – Oscar’s Store ($320 Total)
- Full Spectrum Grow Light x8 – Oscar’s Store ($1600 Total)
- Large Storage Rack x7 – Dan’s Hardware Store ($480 Total)
- Packaging Station Mk2 x1 – Dan’s Hardware Store ($750)
- Mixing Station Mk2 x1 – Oscar’s Store ($2000)

This will, all in all, cost you about $5550. Keep in mind that you’ll also need to hire a Botanist as well as buy items like PGR, Soil, Seeds, Packaging, etc. So, a budget of around $6000+ or more would be ideal.
Alternatively, though, you can cut down costs by using this lower-budget alternative:
- Grow Tent x8 – Dan’s Hardware Store ($800 Total)
- Large Storage Rack x7 – Dan’s Hardware Store ($480 Total)
- Packaging Station Mk2 x1 – Dan’s Hardware Store ($750)
- Mixing Station x1 – Oscar’s Store ($500)
This cheaper setup will run you about $2530 without accounting for the Botanist and the other items. So, as before, we would recommend having $3000+ as your budget before starting. This also allows you to use the setup without Oscar’s Store, as long as you skip the Mixing Station for the time being. Though, at that point you also won’t be able to hire a Botanist…
Setting Up the China Shop Apartment Sweatshop | Schedule 1

Once you’ve managed to buy all of the necessary goods, it’s time to start setting things up! First of all, you want to hire a Botanist. The trick here is that you will not place the bed inside the apartment itself, you’ll assign their bed back at the Motel Room to save space.
Essentially, hire the Botanist for the apartment but place and assign their bed at the Motel. Also, remember to add at least one stack of $200 as their salary so they can work.

With the Botanist ready, you want to set up your pots in a C-formation in the main room of the apartment. It should look something like the example above. Leave the corners empty as they aren’t reachable. Use the Standing Racks to place the Full Spectrum Grow Lights over the pots.
The example above shows the more expensive Suspension Rack setup, but it works the same if you use Grow Tents instead.

Next, place all of your storage racks in the back room of the apartment. You can cram them all next to each other and they’re still usable, just interact with them from the side. The storage rack closest to the door will be separated from the rest by the sink.

In front of the rack closest to the door, place the Mixing Station and then the Packaging Station. The Packaging Station should be in front of the Mixing Station, otherwise it won’t be usable. This can look pretty janky, admittedly, but both stations are useable. Gotta do things like this to make the most of the limited space!
Stocking Up and Managing the Botanist

With that done, there are only a few finishing touches for the best China Shop Apartment sweatshop setup in Schedule 1. First of all, stock up some of your storage racks with necessary items. Keep a good supply of PGR, Fertilizer, Soil, and Seeds for your Botanist to use. Also have some Jars and Baggies for when you’re going to package the goods.

Assign your Botanist to all 8 pots. Remember that you can hold Shift while clicking to assign multiple things at once.

Manage the pots as well and make sure to assign your choice of Seed to them, as well as PGR and Fertilizer as additives. Also, set your storage racks as destination. From that point on, your Botanist will fully take care of the entire process of growing and collecting the product.

The only issue with this setup is that it will get fairly dirty quickly. The China Shop Apartment only allows you to hire 1 employee at a time. Since that slot is taken by the Botanist, you can’t hire a Cleaner to keep things tidy. You’ll need to clean and package products manually.
Nonetheless, that’s the end of our guide for the best China Shop Apartment sweatshop setup in Schedule 1. It’s an odd one, but it really does make the most of the tiny apartment’s limited space!
