on

Food is an essential resource that you will need in Once Human, and fishing is one of the easiest ways to get a lot of food. Fishing allows you to catch your own food and cook it however you like.

Fishing is the best way to get yourself a ton of fish in this game, but before you can fish, it is important to understand how fishing works in this game. We will be looking at everything you need to know about fishing in this game. From the equipment to catching the fish, we cover everything.

How To Fish

Like real life, fishing in Once Human requires you to be next to a body of water that you can fish from. You will need to throw in your fishing rod and use that to reel in and catch fish. Before you can do all that, you must first get yourself a fishing rod and some nice bait.

Getting a Fishing Rod and Bait

Both the fishing rod and fishing bait can be crafted through your Supplies Workbench. You can get both these items fairly early on, making fishing a very good way of getting food in the early game.

To craft the fishing rod, you will need 20 Wood and 10 Copper Ingots. Both of these resources are fairly easy to get early on as they are very common. It will take less than a minute to craft the fishing rod after you have the resources on you.

fish bait is an essential item required in fishing. you can use fish bait to help lure fish onto your hook.

The first bait most people will have to craft is the Dough Bait. this is the most basic bait in the game, and it can be crafted using Corn. Make sure you craft plenty of bait, as bait can only be crafted at the Supplies Workbench and you will need a lot of it while fishing.

Catching Fish

After getting the right equipment, you will need to locate a body of water where you can fish. Water that you can fish from will generally have fish swimming inside it. You will want to find a place close to your base, as this will save a lot of time.

Once you find the right place, throw in your fishing hook with the bait attached to it to get started. When throwing the fishing line, make sure you don’t throw it too far, as that will make it harder for you to reel in the fish.

The blue indicator at the bottom of your screen will tell you when a fish is caught on your hook.

Once your hook is in the water, you will see an indicator at the bottom of your screen. As seen in the image above, this indicator will start glowing blue when a fish gets trapped on to your hook. You will then need to press the left mouse button and start reeling the fish in.

When reeling in the fish, you will need to pull in the direction opposite to where the fish is swimming. So, if the fish is swimming toward the right, you will need to pull to the left. Properly getting a hang of this might take a bit of time, so make sure you get a lot of practice.

Collecting the Fish You Catch

Successfully catching a fish will allow you to collect it and use it however you like.

If you successfully pull the fish in, you can collect it and use it however you like. You can see the collect button once the fish is in your hand. Make sure you bring a fridge with you to store the fish you catch. Fish in this game can go bad if not stored properly. You can use the fridge to take the fish back with you to your base.

Other than storing it for later, you can also cure fish in Once Human. To cure fish in this game, you will need to have salt on hand. Cured fish is a very good alternative to cooking fish in this game.

So there you have it, a comprehensive look at how to fish in Once Human. Make sure you fish a lot, as practice will make you better at it. If you haven’t already, check out our guide on how to get Acid in Once Human, a must-have late-game resource.
