Monster Hunter Wilds features a whole lot of grinding once you reach high rank, which is when you finally get to the end of the main story quests and beat a certain monster. Once this phase of your hunting journey begins, you can now passively farm up certain resources for free as long as you meet a few conditions first. This guide will show you what to do in order to finally be able to use this feature!
All Farm Side Quests | How to Unlock Farming in Wilds
The feature you are looking for is not actually called “farming” but rather “Material Retrieval”, and you can start using this as early as chapter 4. This is still in the early stages of high rank, so you should have no issue getting there once you are done with the main story stuff revolving around Nata.
As far as we can tell, there is no set order in how you need to complete these side quests, so just progress through the game normally and bang them out whenever you see them. The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to complete stuff in each region in order to use the feature there.
So, here is a list of side quests that you will need to complete to fully unlock the Material Retrieval feature in all of the game’s current regions:
Beware the Gypceros – Windward Plains, from the NPC called Zatoh at the Kunafa, Windsong Village area. You might need to wait until day time for him to show up if you can’t seem to find him anywhere in the small village. Murtabak is the NPC for material retrieval.
Aida’s Apprehensions – This is done at the Oilwell Basin region, and Aida will offer you this side quest as soon as you enter high rank, so you should be able to do this immediately if you wish to do so. Sabar is the NPC who you need to speak with for the materialretrieval feature.
Lurking Shadows – This is actually a main quest that you will unlock as you progress through the high rank story stuff. At Suja, Peaks of Accord, you should be able to use material retrieval through the NPC known as Apar.
Make Fluffy Dealings – This is given to you by the NPC named Plumpeach at the Scarlet Forest, and it can only be done once you complete Lurking Shadows, so you will need to progress through the main stuff first. The same NPC is who will be used for the feature later on.
Astonishing Adaptability – At Sild, the Keeper’s Vigil, this is given to you by Tasheen, and completing it will let you use the feature through an NPC named Rysher. This will require you to progress through even more high rank main missions, particularly the one called Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns.
The only thing to note with these side quests is that you should be ready to hunt some monsters as you try to unlock all of the regions’ version of this feature, though you really should not be surprised by that at this point.
Once you have done all of them and can use Material Retrieval at each region, a convenient way to collect resources without actually going to the designated NPCs is by just talking to Nata at your camp. Those who were annoyed by him in the main story should now have one reason to like him!
You do need to change the items that each individual collects manually by going to each one and changing their settings one by one. Aside from that, you just need to check in from time to time to claim or sell your free loot.
That is pretty much all you need to know in order to unlock this feature in the new Monster Hunter game. This is a feature that you might have missed early on, but you can still unlock it even if you are already knee deep into high rank content.
