Meccha Chameleon is not your typical hide and seek game. As a Hider, the job sounds simple. Paint yourself, find a spot, and do not get tagged. But hiding is never just about finding a dark corner and hoping for the best. The game rewards players who think like a set designer, matching the surface, picking the right geometry, and settling somewhere a seeker will not bother checking twice.
There are currently five maps in the game, each with its own layout and prop density that changes what kind of hiding spot actually works. In this guide, I will cover the best hiding spots across every map so you can stop getting found in the first sweep.
Best Hiding Spots For Every Map
The best spots are usually the ones tucked away in shadows, whether that is underneath objects or in dim corners of a room.
If you paint yourself to match the background color of whatever object is casting that shadow, you become incredibly difficult to spot since the shading naturally helps blend your outline into the surrounding darkness.
Below are some of the hardest spots to find on each of the four maps currently available in the game.
Mansion
In the Mansion map, the bookshelves are one of the best spots to hide. Climb up onto the shelf and squeeze into one of the empty spaces between the books. Lie down flat inside the gap.
Once you are in position, use the eyedropper tool to paint yourself the color of the bookshelf wood. Add some of the wood grain texture onto your body and a little bit of the book edges along the parts of you that are visible from the front.
You do not even need to bother painting your back, since it stays hidden against the shelf the entire time. Done properly, this hides you extremely well and is very hard to catch unless the seeker is pixel peeping every inch of the shelf. Below is an example of this spot in action.

Sewers
In the Sewer map, there is graffiti drawn all over the walls and objects throughout the level, and blending in with it is your best bet here. One of the corners has a particularly dense cluster of graffiti and that is my recommended spot to hide in.
For this spot you want to go into the lie down position against the wall. Start by painting yourself the brown color of the bricks behind you. Then draw white lines across your body to represent the gaps between individual bricks. This does not need to be perfect, it just needs to be convincing enough to pass a quick glance.
Finally, layer the graffiti colors on top to match what is already painted on the wall around you. The graffiti itself is just scribbles, so you do not need to be an artist to replicate it.
Once everything is layered properly, you become very hard to spot from a distance unless the seeker happens to be shooting randomly at every surface. Check the image below to get a clear idea of how this looks in practice.
Backrooms
The Backrooms is a fairly open and spacious map with small clusters of random objects scattered around. The low density of objects makes it one of the easier maps for seekers to spot hiders compared to more cluttered environments.
That said there is one genuinely strong hiding spot that stands out above everything else on this map. Head to the vending machines in the corner of the map. The vending machine on the left sits slightly higher than the others.
Climb up to the top row of products inside it and paint yourself completely black to blend into the shadows at the top. It is a very convincing spot and difficult to detect at a glance as shown in the image below.

The one weakness of this method is that a seeker who has memorized how the vending machines normally look, or who compares yours to the one sitting beside it, may notice the top row looks off and take a shot.
To counter this, paint yourself to match the color and pattern of the bottom rows of products instead of going full black. Mirror the layout convincingly enough and even an experienced seeker will struggle to tell the difference at a glance. Check the image below for an example of how this looks in practice.
Inside Country
The Inside Country map offers a decent number of hiding spots to work with. You could literally press yourself against the cyan wall beneath the black rails and still give seekers a tough time finding you.
The wall has enough dirty patches and uneven texture that it never looks completely flat, which breaks up your silhouette naturally without much effort on your part.
That said, the best hiding spot on this map in my opinion is the cow cutouts. Climb onto the side of one and get into the lying down position. Paint yourself in the black and white color scheme of the cow and then replicate some of the texture detail from the cutout itself onto your character.
Done right, you become almost indistinguishable from the cutout and even experienced seekers will do a double take before committing to a shot. Check the image below to see exactly how convincing this looks in practice.
Penguin Hotel
The Penguin Hotel is in my opinion the hardest map for seekers right now. The sheer density of objects and clutter spread across the rooms gives hiders an enormous number of options to work with. There are a couple of spots in particular that stand out above the rest.
The first approach I would recommend is blending in with the various stuffed toys scattered around the map. Let me give you two solid examples of this.
In one of the bedrooms you will find a toy sitting under a table. Simply mimic its appearance and sit right beside it in the same position. Make sure to paint your back as well since seekers will circle around if they are suspicious.
How convincing this looks depends largely on how well you can replicate the details but even a rough approximation is enough to fool most seekers at a glance. Check the image below for an example.
The second toy based spot involves the green toys lying on the ground. Get into the crouch position next to one and blend yourself into it to make the whole thing look longer or fuller than it actually is.
This one is easier to pull off since you do not need to draw much detail. Simply matching the color is enough to make it work convincingly. Check the image below for an example of this.
White Curtains
Finally, one of the other best spots on this map is the white curtains hanging between the pillars in one of the rooms. These sit high up off the ground which already makes them harder to check.
Paint yourself to match the curtains correctly and your elevated position combined with how well you blend into the fabric makes you extremely difficult to spot. Even seekers who know the map well will often overlook this one entirely.
Final Advice
That covers the best hiding spots across every map in Meccha Chameleon. The key takeaway across all of them is that the most convincing hides are never just about picking a dark corner and crouching. The best players study the environment, replicate textures and patterns accurately and position themselves in ways that make their shape blend naturally into whatever they are mimicking.
The more effort you put into matching the details of your surroundings the harder you become to spot, and even experienced seekers who know the maps well will second guess themselves when a hide is done properly. Practice your painting on each map before jumping into a competitive match and you will notice the difference immediately.
