Palworld is a Pokémon-inspired open-world survival game, so it can be pretty tough unless you do some important things first.

After all, open-world survival games always have challenging beginnings, and Palworld is no exception despite its charming visuals. It just kinda throws you out into the world, expecting you to figure it out!

In this guide, we’ll tell you a variety of tips and tricks to help make the start of the game easier.

Palworld – Important Beginner’s Tricks and Things to Do First

Catch Them By Surprise!

Important Things to Do First in Palworld - Back Bonus

This is a very simple and quick tip, but it will really help you out when catching your first few Pals: hit them from the back.

Throwing a Pal Sphere at a Pal’s back will give you a “Back Bonus”, which greatly increases your chances of successfully capturing the Pal.

Note that you don’t even have to be sneaky to get the Back Bonus, either. You can attack the Pal and damage it, then throw your Pal Sphere at its back and still get it.

Back Bonus example

Basically, you don’t miss out on the Back Bonus just because you already alerted the Pal to your presence!

Make good use of this little trick to capture Pals with ease in the early game.

Try To Get A Rushoar ASAP

Important Things to Do First in Palworld - Rushoar

Rushoar is one of the most useful Pals you can catch in the early game. It can be used as a mount to speed up your travels, and it also allows you to speed up mining early.

Rushoar location in the map

You can find Rushoars out in the wild in the autumn-themed area to the northwest of your starting point. You’ll know you’re in the right place when all the vegetation has a distinct orange look!

Remember to go for the Back Bonus when trying to catch it, too.

Once you’ve captured it, you can ride it and use its Reckless Charge ability to break down ore deposits and rocks extremely fast.

Get Stone Pits and Logging Camps

Important Things to Do First in Palworld - Logging and Mining

Stone Pits and Logging Camps are two of the many buildings you can, well, build. They allow you to set your Pals to work mining or logging, provided that they have the right Work Suitability stat.

This makes gathering stone and wood resources much easier, as your Pals will just get them passively for you.

Considering that stone and wood are the foundation for almost every building and crafting recipe in the game, you’ll be extremely glad to have the buildings running as soon as possible!

Increase Your Weight and Stamina

Important Things to Do First in Palworld - Weight and Stamina

You’ll gain experience and levels as you explore and fight in Palworld. This allows you to increase a variety of stats. Weight and Stamina happen to be two of the most important stats to increase early on!

Increasing your Weight stat will increase your carry limit, allowing you to take more items with you before your inventory fills up.

Stamina will allow you to run and climb longer before you get tired. This isn’t just great for making travel faster or making combat easier, though.

Climbing in Palworld

Having more Stamina when climbing can allow you to reach previously unreachable areas!

Of course, it’s up to you what kind of build you want to make for your character. Nonetheless, we highly recommend investing at least a little into these two stats.

Gotta Catch ‘Em All!

Important Things to Do First in Palworld - Catch 'em All

Our last tip is a fairly straightforward one: try to catch every Pal you can. They all have different roles, and they’re all extremely useful to you.

Capturing multiple of the same species is also a great idea, as you’ll get extra Experience when capturing repeats.

Pal Spheres are in pretty common supply, and you can store dozens of Pals in your Palboxes. So, there’s really no reason not to go around collecting all the Pals you can!

Example of a Lucky Pal

Also, make sure to keep an eye out for large Pals with sparks around them. These are known as Lucky Pals, and they’re overall better than standard Pals!

Anyway, that was our final tip for getting started in Palworld. We hope this guide helps make your life easier once you start out in this charming survival game!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
