Idira is one of your companions inWarhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and she’s unique as she’s an Unsactioned Psyker who can become a powerful spellcaster.
Every other character in the game can only become a Sanctioned Psyker, which limits their potential. But Idira isn’t held back by that, allowing her to have the highest Psy rating!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to build Idira to make the most of her unique talents as a Psyker.
Idira the Powerful Spellcaster Psyker Guide
Idira is, potentially speaking, the strongest Psyker in the game. This is mostly entirely thanks to her unique “Unsanctioned Psyker” talent.
This talent allows her to wear the Warp Conductor Gloves, which you can find inside the Macro-Cannon Chamber in the Voidship before you visit Janus.
These gloves will boost Idira’s Psy rating well beyond what’s possible for any other Psyker in the game, making her a force to be reckoned with!
As such, you’ll want to make sure to get these gloves and keep them on her the entire game. They’re what really makes this build shine.
Additionally, Idira joins you very early in the game as a Level 4 Operative. This allows you to freely mold her however you see fit, as you can pick all of her Operative talents and abilities!
For this build, Idira will be an Operative and Bounty Hunter hybrid focused purely on spellcasting. After all, it is called a Spellcaster Psyker build!
Her spells will be bolstered greatly by her high Psy rating, which will allow her to deal insanely high damage with every spell.
On top of her damaging spells, she’ll also be able to greatly buff your other party members, making her quite versatile.
The only thing you need to worry about with her is friendly fire! Her Area of Effect spells will be very damaging, so make sure that you don’t accidentally hit your allies.
Now, let’s go over which talents, abilities, and stats to pick for every level up to 45!
Levels 4 to 15: Operative
It’s nice that we get to really make the most of Idira by choosing her Operative setup, right?
Well, here are the best choices you can make up to Level 15 if you want to turn Idira into a proper spellcasting Psyker:
Level 4 – “Uncanny Sight” talent.
Level 5 – Willpower stat increase and “Second Sight” talent.
Level 6 – “Tide of Excellence” talent and Willpower stat increase.
Level 7 – “Sensory Deprivation” Psyker ability and any skill increase you want.
Skill increases don’t matter much for this build, so you should focus on just picking any skill the rest of your party lacks.
Level 8 – “Fresh Target” and “Psychic Barrage” talents.
Level 9 – Any upgrade you want for “Dismantling Attack” and any skill increase you want.
Level 10 – Any skill you want and Perception stat increase.
Level 11 – “Ballistics Calculation” talent and any skill increase you want.
Level 13 – “Passive Learning” talent and Perception stat increase.
Level 14 – Intelligence stat increase and “It Will Not Die” talent.
Level 15 – Any upgrade for “Dismantling Attack.”
Levels 16 to 35: Bounty Hunter
Once you get your second Archetype, spec into Bounty Hunter as we previously mentioned. The progression through Bounty Hunter for this build will be as follows:
Level 16 – “Hunt Down the Prey” ability, automatically earned once you spec into Bounty Hunter.
Level 17 – “Foreboding” Psyker ability.
Level 18 – “Savour the Kill” talent.
Level 19 – “Wild Hunt” Heroic Action.
Level 20 – “AP Increase” improvement, Willpower stat increase, and “Psy Rating 2” talent.
Level 21 – Willpower stat increase and “Pain Channeling” talent.
Level 22 – “Psychic Assault” Psyker ability.
Level 23 – “Thriving in Peril” talent and any skill increase you want.
Level 24 – Perception stat increase and “Mind Thief” talent.
Level 25 – “Mind Siege” talent.
Level 26 – Any skill you want and Perception stat increase.
Level 27 – Any upgrade you want for “Wild Hunt.”
Level 28 – “Advice and Guidance” talent.
Level 29 – Any skill you want and Intelligence stat increase.
Level 30 – “Psy Rating 3” talent and any Psyker spell you want. Choose “Biomancy” for buffing, “Pyromancy” for a damage focus, or “Santic Powers” to protect allies.
Level 31 – “Strange Vitality” or “Sanguine Siphon” talent. Both are good, depending on your playstyle.
Level 32 – Intelligence stat increase and any skill you want.
Level 33 – “Hunting Surge” talent.
Level 34 – If you chose “Strange Vitality” at Level 31, choose “Sanguine Siphon” here. If you have “Sanguine Siphon”, get “Strange Vitality.”
Level 35 – Any upgrade for “Wild Hunt.”
Levels 36 and Beyond: Exemplar
At long last, Idira gets to spec into Exemplar and you get to claim some extra talents to boost her abilities. Here are the best choices until Level 45:
Level 36 – “Malign Influence” and “Sharpshooter” talents.
Level 37 – Any skill you want and “Deterioration” talent.
Level 38 – Willpower stat increase and “Warp Minds” talent.
Level 39 – “Enfeeble” Psyker ability and any skill increase you want.
Level 40 – “Extermination” talent and any second talent you want.
Level 41 – Willpower stat increase and “Psy Rating 4” talent.
Level 42 – Choose any Psyker ability you want between “Invigorate”, “Regeneration”, or “Warp Speed.” They’re all equally good for different playstyles. Also, get Perception as your stat increase.
Level 43 – “Inspiring Trophy” and “Characteristic Training: Willpower” talents.
Level 44 – Any skill you want and “Deathdealer” or “Cataclysm” talent.
Level 45 – “AP Increase” improvement.
Now, your spellcaster Psyker Idira build is ready to sling spells to destroy all your foes while buffing your allies!
