This is even after several balance updates have been released. However, the reason why it’s still the best is now different than it was back then.
Back then, most players go for the Officer due to its ability to chain bonus turns. However, even after various update, its key strengths remain largely unchanged. Meanwhile, Owlcat chose to buff weaker archetypes like Operative and Assassin instead of heavily nerfing Officer.
As a result, you can now enjoy a much better overall class balance. Choosing the Noble complements this perfectly, as the archetype has great talents based on Fellowship.
And in case you don’t know it, the Officer archetype is all about using the Fellowship stat to provide buffs and extra turns to your party.
The other bonus of the Fellowship stat is that it doubles as a “charisma” stat. As such, characters with high Fellowship naturally end up being the face of your party during dialogue most of the time.
This will really make your Rogue Trader feel like a proper main character, deserving of the title of Lord Captain!
What’s even better is that Officer is also one of the best archetypes in the game. In fact, their “Finest Hour!” Heroic Action is by far the best in the game and can quickly turn the tide of battle in your favor.
During combat, your main role is to enable your companions by granting additional actions. This can then enhance their overall effectiveness and ensure that your main damage dealers spend more time attacking instead of waiting for their turn.
Other Things to Keep in Mind
If you own The Infinite Museion DLC, you’ll also gain access to the new Augmentation system. This opens up Cybernetic upgrades which add another layer of customization to nearly every build.
This means you can customize your Lord Captain toward survivability, support, or offensive utility without changing the core Officer playstyle. This makes Officer builds even more flexible than those from the base game.
