The Bitter Tears prophecy is one of those quests that can feel confusing at first if you are trying to clean up the Fated List in Hades 2. In fact, lots of players end up thinking the prophecy is bugged because they already have Tears in their inventory, yet nothing happens.

However, most of the confusion actually comes from the game’s vague wording rather than hidden mechanics. To help you with that, I’m going to show you the fastest way to complete the Bitter Tears prophecy without wasting extra runs.

What You Need to Fulfill the Bitter Tears Prophecy in Hades 2

What You Need to Fulfill the Bitter Tears Prophecy in Hades 2

The prophecy revolves around Medea and the Tears reagent you collect from the Mourning Fields route. It’s worth noting that you can only earn Tears by defeating the guardian in that biome.

To fulfill the prophecy, you need to do three things in order.

First is to unlock the prophecy from Medea’s dialogue. After that, you should collect a fresh Tear after the prophecy becomes active. Lastly, brew the related cauldron recipe and gift the resulting item to Medea.

Fastest Method for Fulfilling the Prophecy

The fastest method to fulfill the prophecy is to focus on a single underworld run that’s designed for reaching Mourning Fields as quickly as possible.

You don’t need a high Fear setup for this. In fact, running low Fear or even zero Fear is usually faster and safer if your only goal is to complete the prophecy. As for the weapon, you can use whichever weapon you clear fastest with. Most players go for aggressive Omega-heavy builds, especially the Sister Blades or Witch’s Staff.

Here’s what your run should look like:

Medea Hades 2

First, you want to speak to Medea at the Crossroads to trigger the request.

Cerberus Hades 2

After that, rush directly to the Mourning Fields and defeat Cerberus and get the Tears.

Tears Vaporized Hades 2

Once you pick up the Tears, return to the Crossroads and head to the Cauldron. Here, perform the Essence of Sorrow incantation to get Tears, Vaporized.

Bitter Tears Prophecy Hades 2

Head back to Medea and gift her the Tears, Vaporized item to complete the prophecy.

Final Thoughts

The Bitter Tears prophecy might sound mysterious, but it’s actually one of the more straightforward prophecies in Hades 2. The emphasis on less on combat and more about triggering the proper sequence.

It’s worth noting that lots of players get stuck because they already have Tears in their inventory before they unlock the prophecy. If this happens to you, you will need to collect a fresh one AFTER the prophecy appears.
