Keepsakes are one of the most important progression systems in Hades 2. After a bunch of post-launch updates, the game has added quite a handful of new and even powerful ones into the mix. That said, you can only gain access to Keepsakes after you beat the story!
Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the new Keepsakes in Hades 2, how to unlock them, and how to use them.
How to Unlock the New Keepsakes & Use Them | Hades 2

To unlock Keepsakes, you have to gift Nectar to certain characters for the first time. These characters include most allies, Olympians, and certain NPCs.
That said, you can obtain Nectar from various sources, including:
- Endgame crafting
- Room rewards during runs
- The Wretched Broker
- Special rewards and events
Once unlocked, you can then equip a Keepsake from the display cabinet at the Crossroads right before you start a run.

It’s worth noting that Keepsakes get stronger the more encounters you complete while having them equipped. Currently, the upgrade requirements work like this:
- Rank 2: Clear 25 encounters
- Rank 3: Clear 50 additional encounters
Also, some Keepsake effects gain stronger bonuses with each rank, which is why it’s worth upgrading your Keepsakes if you want to do your late-game runs efficiently.
Moreover, there’s a special Heroic tier interaction that’s tied to the “Cherished Heirloom” Duo Boon that temporarily enhances the effects of certain Keepsakes.
Some of the newer Keepsakes, like Jeweled Pom, Calling Card, and Time Piece, only trigger while you’re at Fates’ Whim. That means, you can’t have or use any Changes of Fate (rerolls) or Olympian-summoning Keepsakes.
Essentially, your run has to be purely reliant on RNG and luck! You can’t use anything to alter randomization elements.
Having any Changes of Fate at all will deactivate all 3 of these Keepsakes. It will also block you from equipping them later on if you find a Keepsake cabinet during a run.

Similarly, using an Olympian-summoning Keepsake will deactivate all 3 of these Fates’ Whim Keepsakes. This also applies retroactively.
So, ultimately, you just need to choose!
Either use Arcana and Keepsakes that give you control over randomization, or ignore these Keepsakes. Or, accept randomization and be at the Fates’ Whim to use these powerful Keepsakes.
Are the New Keepsakes Worth Unlocking?
Absolutely! The newer ones introduced through updates are some of the strongest in the game. In fact, some of them can even completely change the way you approach your runs.
Most experienced players tend to go for Jeweled Pom, White Antler, Discordant Bell, or the Experimental Hammer when pushing higher Fear levels.
These Keepsakes scale exceptionally well with aggressive builds.
Apart from that, the newer Keepsakes open up more build variety compared to the previous versions of the game. Even situational Keepsakes like Silver Wheel are now valuable in certain builds and setups.
Hence, if you want to push endgame content further or simply want to try out new builds, unlocking and upgrading Keepsakes should be one of your main priorities.
Now you know how to unlock and use all of these new Keepsakes in Hades 2! What you do with them from this point forward is up to you to decide.
