If you’ve been struggling with Hades 2, maybe you need a god tier build such as the Apollo-based one we have here. This is a build that’s very easy to set up and play. It mainly focuses on doing big damage in a big area using the Moonstone Axe’s Omega Attack and specific Boons! Does that sound like fun to you? Well, read on for all of the build’s details.

God Tier Apollo Build Guide | Hades 2

Basic Setup

First of all, let’s talk about the equipment setup you’ll want to have ready before you head out on a run. Here’s what we’ll be rocking for this Apollo-focused build and playstyle:

  • Weapon – Moonstone Axe with Aspect of Melinoë.
  • Keepsake – Harmonic Photon. Prioritizes Boons from Apollo. Unlock it and upgrade it by offering Ambrosia to Apollo. You can find him randomly during runs.
  • Arcana – Here’s the Arcana you should aim for, in order of priority:
    • The Sorceress – Your Omega Moves are faster.
    • The Wayward Son – After you exit a Location, restore Life.
    • The Huntress – While you have less than 100% Magick, your Attack and Special deal increased damage.
    • Eternity – While you Channel your Omega Moves, everything moves slower for some time.
    • The Moon – Your Hex also charges up automatically as though you used Magick every 1 sec.
    • Excellence – Any Boons you find have a higher chance to include Legendary or at least Rare blessings.
    • Divinity – Any Boons you find have a higher chance to include Epic blessings.
    • Death – You have more Death Defiance.

With the base for the build set, all that’s left is to talk about what to get during an actual run!

Boons and Upgrades to Look Out For

Now, there are a few key Boons and upgrades you’ll want to focus on with this build. Mainly, you want a larger area of effect range and also buffs to your Omega Moves. These are the recommended things to look out for, in order of importance:

  • Nova Strike (Apollo) – Your Attacks deal more damage in a larger area. Try to get this at Epic or higher.
  • Psychic Whirlwind (Moonstone Axe Upgrade) – Your Omega Attack fires around you, leaving you free to move and strike at the same time.
  • Furious Whirlwind (Moonstone Axe Upgrade) – You Channel your Omega Attack faster, and move faster while it is active.
  • Will (Chaos) – You restore some Magick every 1 Sec.
  • Tranquil Gain (Demeter) – After remaining inactive for a short time, rapidly restore Magick until you act.
  • Ocean Swell (Poseidon) – Your Omega Moves also launch a wide wave ahead that knocks foes away, but use +5 Magick.

With all of the build laid down, you should now have an idea of how the build itself plays.

Wrap Up | Playstyle Basics

Mainly, you’ll want to use the Moonstone Axe’s Omega Attack extremely frequently. Thanks to the Boons, primarily Nova Strike, it’ll deal huge damage over a pretty wide area.

The one downside is that you do use up your Magick quickly. That is why you want things like Will and Tranquil Gain to help recover it, for one. It’s also where the Arcana selection helps you pick up the slack. The Huntress, in particular, will give you a pretty strong buff under 100% Magick, which will be nearly all the time with this build!

This playstyle is also why the Psychic Whirlwind upgrade is so important for the Moonstone Axe. It will allow you to keep the Omega Attack up often but without sacrificing too much mobility. You’ll want to get that as soon as possible on every run, alongside Nova Strike.

If you find that you’re not getting the Boons and upgrades you want early enough, you could try restarting the run. Having Nova Strike as early as possible makes a huge difference, so it’s worth it.

With all of that said, you now know how to use this god tier Apollo build in Hades 2! It’s a very strong and easy-to-use build, making it an easy one to beat the game with. The only downside is that it doesn’t work at all with the new Fates’ Whim Keepsakes…
