One of the flashiest features in Resident Evil Requiem is Leon’s ability to perform unique gun finishers.

These finishers are mainly for show, but they allow Leon to do a slick execution animation. It finishes off enemies (hence the name!) and feels very satisfying to pull off, even if there are no other rewards for it. But these seem to come out randomly, so how do you actually do them?

In this guide, I’ll demystify how these gun finishers work!

How to Do a Gun Finisher

To do a gun finisher, you’ll first need to get the enemy to low health. How low exactly? Well, the common belief is that it’s low enough that the next shot would kill them.

This is, of course, easier said than done! With no way to tell an enemy’s health and the game’s adaptive difficulty shifting values around in secret, this is something you have to feel out on your own.

The one thing you can use to gauge the enemy’s health is the Melee Attack prompt above their heads. If you see the prompt, then it’s fairly likely that the enemy’s health is low enough for a finisher! Not guaranteed, but it’s something.

When the enemy is at low health, walk up close and get in melee range. Aim and shoot at them point-blank and Leon will do a gun finisher instead of shooting normally. It should look something like the video below.

Now, as far as I know, you can not do gun finishers with weapons that have scopes. That means that you’ll need to remove them if you have a scope set on the weapon. This is true even for sniper rifles, surprisingly.

Gun finishers also seem to only be usable against weak zombies, and not other BOWs, as well. So, that’s something else to keep in mind.

Regardless, now you know how to do gun finishers in Resident Evil Requiem! Basically, you just need to aim and shoot at an enemy in melee range when they’re nearly dead. Well, dead dead, not undead dead.
