Sinking a ship may be the easiest and most common way to pillage an enemy’s loot in Skull and Bones. That said, there’s another way to gather loot from a ship without sinking it, boarding it instead.
Boarding an enemy ship isn’t easy, but it’s certainly more rewarding than salvaging the scraps from a wreckage. Loot is often stowed away on ships and it can only be earned by boarding it.
Before you decide on whether to blast the ship into ashes or hop aboard. Here’s a guide on how you can jump aboard an enemy ship.
No enemy ship will just let you stroll aboard, without a fight. Before you can board a ship, you’ll need to lower its HP to below half. To lower a ship’s health, fire cannons at weak spots marked in red on the ship, as seen in the image above.
You can also lower an enemy ship’s HP by ramming your ship into the stern and bow. But it’s safer just to fire cannonballs from a distance.
Once the enemy ship has taken on fire and its health is below half, position your ship on the port or starboard side. Aim your cannons, like you are going to fire, but look for an on-screen prompt blinking in blue, that says “Crew Boarding”, as seen in the image above.
Press the required button on your screen, and your ship will send out ropes with hooks attached at the end of them. To board another ship, one of these ropes needs to latch onto the enemy ship, so make sure you are close enough to grab hold of it.
It will likely take a few attempts before you can latch on to an enemy ship. But as soon as you’re attached a cut scene will play and you’ll board the ship!
Take hold of the loot, and search the high seas for hidden treasures!
