Everwind has an economy system that allows you to engage with Merchant NPCs for buying and selling items, and it’s a fairly in-depth one for this type of game.

While there’s nothing too crazy like shifting item prices based on supply and demand, there are still a lot of things to consider when buying and selling. Different NPCs pay different prices for certain item types, Merchants have limited stock, etc…

In this guide, I’ll explain everything important you need to know about Everwind’s economy.

Where to Find Merchants | Settlement Basics

Merchants in Everwind are found in Settlements. These are a special type of island full of buildings and NPCs for you to interact with. As you can see in the example above, Settlements are easy to spot from afar thanks to said buildings!

Before I get to the Merchants themselves, I recommend exploring the town itself. You can usually find many resources in them. Just make sure that you’re not seen stealing anything, as all NPCs within the Settlement will become hostile.

Now, as for Merchants themselves, you can find them within some of the buildings in each Settlement. They come in many different types, and the buildings themselves have randomized layouts. But, for reference, they look like the example above.

It’s important to note that the type of Merchant isn’t just cosmetic. It also affects what types of items they prefer and what they sell, as follows:

Merchant TypeItems for SalePreferred Items to Buy
AlchemistPotions and elixirsHerbs and vials
ArmorerProtective gear and shieldsArmor scraps and plates
BlacksmithRefined metals and toolsOres and ingots

That’s the basics regarding Merchants, but there are a few other things to go over regarding what they sell and what they buy.

What Determines Prices When Selling

If you’re looking to peddle your various finds from your adventures to Merchants, there are a couple of factors that will affect the prices Merchants pay.

The first is Item Quality. Things such as the level, durability, modifiers, and the like. Everything counts.

The second is the Merchant’s preferences. While all Merchants will buy all types of items, Merchants will pay more for items they favor. These are the ones I listed in the chart in the previous section, for reference.

If you wish to sell an item, you can just hover over it while interacting with the Merchant. You’ll see how much the Merchant’s willing to pay on the top right corner of the item box, next to its name.

It’s also worth noting that you can buy back items you sold to a Merchant. However, they’ll charge you extra. So, be careful with what you sell! Buying it back will cost more than what you got.

Lastly, it’s also important to know that Merchants have a limited supply of Coins. You can see how many Coins a Merchant has in the upper-right corner of their inventory. Merchants won’t buy anything that exceeds their budget.

How to Purchase Items and Merchant Limitations

If you want to purchase something instead of selling it, hover over what you want in the Merchant’s inventory to see its information. Click to confirm and you’re all done, it’s as simple as that!

As I mentioned before, Merchants have a limited Coins budget. When you purchase something, it’ll directly be added to their stock. Keep that in mind if you wish to buy and sell a lot.

That aside, the item stock for each Merchant is random and updates periodically. Of course, their stock is limited to the items assigned to their Merchant type.

But, the basics of it is that you should check up on Merchants every now and then as they update their stocks. They are a fantastic source of some rarer ingredients, tools, and recipes.

Wrapping Up

To summarize, you can find various Merchant NPCs whenever you visit Settlement islands in Everwind. The economy system limits Merchants’ Coins, and their stock is also randomized periodically. Item types also depend on Merchant type.

Make sure to trade often with these Merchants! You can buy lots of great and rare items from them, and selling unwanted items is a good way to get some extra Coins.

Now that you know everything there is to know about Merchants and the economy system, I recommend also learning how to upgrade your airship. For that, check out our guide on how to get a better ship.
