Best Tips & Tricks To Know Before You Play

Be Sure to Explore

Exploration | Best Tips & Tricks To Know Before You Play Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 might be a very linear game, but exploration is still an extremely important part of the game. Whether you’re playing the campaign or Operation Mode, going off the beaten path is highly recommended.

In the campaign, finding the hidden nooks and crannies in the levels will yield many useful resources. You’ll find helpful items such as Medicae Stimms to heal yourself with and Guardian Relics to revive yourself when you go down. Also, you might find various collectible audio logs known as Dataslates. These provide more lore and worldbuilding, making them a nice bonus for Warhammer 40,000 fans!

If you want to find all 35 Dataslates in the game, check out our Dataslate locations guide.

Armoury Data in Operation Mode

As for Operation Mode, you might randomly find Armoury Data used for upgrades and Gene-Seeds that will reward you with extra experience. Keeping an eye out for these is a great way to speed up your account’s progression in this mode! Just remember to share with your teammates as well.

Either way, make sure to take detours whenever possible. You’re likely to find helpful resources to make your life easier!

Stay on the Offensive

Don’t let the over-the-shoulder camera and bulky armor fool you, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 isn’t a cover shooter. Much like its predecessor, it’s a fast-paced shooter where you’re always meant to dive straight into combat and stay on the offensive.

One of the most important tools to staying alive is to perform Executions or Gun Strikes on weakened enemies. The game will prompt you to do them whenever it’s possible, and successfully killing an enemy with either of these abilities will recover some of your Armour.  You can’t take Health damage as long as you have Armour, so offense becomes your best defense in this game.

If you do take Health damage, though, you’ll notice that your Health has a white segment for a brief period. Dealing melee damage while this white segment is still active will recover your Health, and this includes Executions.

In short, keep slaying enemies and Executing them to keep yourself alive! Just be careful not to bite more than you can chew, sometimes you have to do a tactical retreat to stay alive.

Look Out for Heavy Weapons

Heavy Weapons | Best Tips & Tricks To Know Before You Play Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

As you play through the campaign in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, you’ll be able to find Drop Pods with a variety of weapons on them. The most notable are the ones that include heavy weapons, such as the Heavy Bolter.

These heavy weapons have incredible firepower, although they do slow down your movement while carrying them. Nonetheless, picking these bad boys up whenever they’re available will help you quickly mow through groups of enemies with ease.

What’s more, heavy weapons don’t actually take up any space in your inventory. That means you don’t have to leave behind any of your weapons to pick them up. As such, there’s no reason to avoid picking them up and using them until you spend every last round! They’ll help you turn the tide of battle in your favor more often than not.

Don’t Ignore Your Secondary Weapon and Grenades

Secondary Weapons and Grenades

Big weapons shouldn’t be your only focus, though. You’ll also always carry a secondary weapon with you at all times, which can be much handier than you might first assume. For example, swapping to a secondary weapon can come in clutch if you need to reload your primary weapon during a heated encounter.

Grenades are also similarly important, as you’re often swarmed with hordes of enemies. Chucking a grenade at a large group of enemies can often take them all out quickly.

This is especially important when you’re tasked with defending the high ground from waves of enemies, as the Tyranids will group together and climb each other to reach you. Throwing a grenade at them won’t just kill a large number of them, it will also make them fall off their makeshift ladder!

Check Out Operation Mode

If you’ve already exhausted the main campaign but are left wanting more, we highly recommend checking out Operation Mode in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

This mode is a multiplayer PvE mode where you can squad up with 2 other players to take on missions. These missions serve as a sort of side story that happens alongside the main story, giving you another look at the events of the campaign.

What’s more, there’s a system in place where you can pick one of 6 classes and level them up. Unlock equipment, learn Perks, and take on increasingly harder challenges as you fend off the Tyranids!
