Now, without further ado, read on and we’ll give you our 5 tips and tricks to help you succeed in Operation Mode!
5 Tips & Tricks for PvE Operation Mode
Clear The Campaign First
Our first tip is a short and simple one: focus on beating the campaign first. The various Operations in Operation Mode reuse the same locales as the campaign. As such, you’re bound to encounter spoilers by jumping into Operations first.
What’s more, playing the campaign first will better prepare you for Operation Mode. Sure, Operation Mode is basically its own beast, but you’ll have better knowledge of the enemies and maps if you already saw them in the campaign.
Don’t Be a Lone Wolf
If you already beat the campaign, as we mentioned previously, you might feel overly confident in your abilities. However, that’s a big mistake diving into Operation Mode! This mode is much harder than the main campaign, even on the lowest difficulty.
Operation Mode in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is heavily focused on being a team-based mode. Unlike in the campaign, you’re no longer quite as much of a one-man army. Try to stick with your allies as much as possible, because getting separated will just make all of you easier to take out. Everyone on the team needs to work together, especially if you’re playing classes like Bulwark and Tactical. Their abilities provide utility to the team, so you should focus on being a team player!
In short, don’t expect to be able to just solo everything like you can in the campaign. Cooperate with your team if you want to have any hope of completing your mission.
Pick the Right Class
Every squad in Operation Mode consists of 3 players, with each player getting to pick one out of the 6 different classes. Every class has a distinct playstyle and role in the team, so picking the right one will be absolutely vital!
If you just want to know the basics of each class, here’s a quick breakdown on what to expect from each one:
Tactical – The most versatile and beginner-friendly class, the Tactical has access to the widest selection of ranged weapons in the game.
Assault – A master of melee combat, they go into combat without a ranged primary weapon. They prefer to dive headfirst into combat to wreck foes with powerful melee attacks.
Vanguard – As a Vanguard, you’d get to do well at both ranged and melee combat. They excel at prioritizing single targets and they also have extremely high mobility.
Bulwark – Similar to the Assault Class, the Bulwark prioritizes melee combat above all. However, Bulwark focuses more on tanking damage and providing support to their team.
Sniper – Exactly what you expect, a marksman who excels at dealing incredible damage with well-placed shots from long range. Can also cloak themselves to hide from enemies.
Heavy – Slow and bulky, the Heavy has the most powerful ranged weapons and incredibly strong armor. Perfect for crowd control, but can also protect allies with their Iron Halo.
Do note that each player in the squad has to play a different class from each other. That means you can’t have 2 Assault Class players at the same time. Nonetheless, your class choice is used when matchmaking with random players so you’re not forced to use a class you don’t want.
Look for Crates
This is another simple tip, but possibly one of the most important on our list of tips and tricks for Operation Mode in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Simply put, you want to keep your eyes peeled for breakable crates like the one shown above.
These crates spawn randomly on various spots for every Operation, but they always yield useful loot. What they contain is also random, but it can include various Grenades, Ammo, or even an Armour Boost. Out of these, the Armour Boost is most notable because it can give you an additional Armour Segment when picked up!
Make sure to keep an eye out for these crates so that you don’t miss any useful supplies during your missions.
Don’t Ignore Trials
Last but not least, make sure to complete the Trials available in the Operation Mode for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. There are Trials available for every one of the 6 classes in the game. Completing these Trials will help you learn how to make full use of your class, especially if you attempt to get the A Ranks on them.
You won’t just get better at the game, though! You’ll also earn Armoury Data which you can use to get Class Perks and unlock upgraded weapons. The better your performance is, the better your rewards will be. Getting an A Rank will get you Master-Crafted Armoury Data, which is used for the highest-quality gear in the game!
In short, make sure to master these Trials to hone your skills and earn useful currency for upgrades and unlocks.
But well, that brings us to the end of our list of tips and tricks for Operation Mode in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. We hope these tips will help you better serve the Imperium as you take on the brutal Operations in this PvE mode!
