For the most part, these issues are mainly performance issues that are tied to the game’s optimization. As a matter of fact, there were tons of technical issues that came along with the game during its launch. It will likely take months before the developers can iron out these issues.

Nonetheless, there are things that you can do on your end to at least minimize the occurrence of these issues. The good news is, you can fix all three issues with a single solution as they mostly go hand in hand with each other. Here are your options:

Update Your Graphics Driver

As an avid gamer, it’s common sense to upgrade your graphics driver as soon as your GPU manufacturer rolls out a new update. The purpose of this update is to fix any issues that might be present not just in FIFA 23 but in all games in general.

This update is also likely to fix any performance issues that you might encounter when playing a game. These include failure to launch, poor framerates, random crashes, black screen, freezing, and more. The same thing applies to FIFA 23.

So if your graphics driver is outdated, then make sure to update it right away. To do this, you want to head over to your GPU manufacturer’s website and search for a driver for your card. If you don’t know the model of your card, simply press the Windows key and R at the same time. In the blank box, type in dxdiag and press Enter.

Click on the Display tab, and there, you’ll find the name and manufacturer of your graphics card.

Verify FIFA 23’s Game Files

In some cases, random crashes and game not launching could be due to corrupted files in your game’s folders. To solve that, you need to verify FIFA 23’s game files so it will delete the corrupted files and download their replacements.

The method for verifying your game files varies depending on your platform. If you’re on Steam, click on Library, look for FIFA 23, right-click on it, select Properties, and then select Local Files.

In the new window, simply click on the “Verify integrity of game files” option. Steam will then start the verification process and replace the corrupted files with new ones.

Meanwhile, if you’re on Epic Games Store, simply click on Library, look for FIFA 23, and then click on the three dots icon below it. Click on the Manage option and then click on Verify. Wait for the system to verify your game’s files.

Disable Overlays

Cases like this are rare, but if you’re running Origin or Discord while playing the game, you might want to turn off their overlays. Once again, the steps will vary depending on the platform. If you’re using Discord, simply head over to User Settings, click on Activity Settings, and open the Game Overlay menu.

After that, look for the “Enable in-game overlay” option and switch it off.

For Origin, head over to the My Game Library menu. Look for FIFA 23 and right-click on it, then click on Game Properties. Look for the “Enable Origin In Game for FIFA 23” option and turn it off. Click Save afterward.

Reinstall the Game

If nothing else worked, then your last option is to reinstall the game. First, make sure to uninstall the game completely to remove any game files in your system.

After that, download the game once more using your preferred platform (Steam or Epic Games Store) and wait for the installation process to complete.
