As with any Eastern MMORPG, Throne & Liberty does not exactly have what I would describe as a riveting story, but you still need to go through the main quest if you want to level up fast. During the Sandstorm Overlord part of the main questline, you will eventually reach a point labeled as “Luring Device Mana Source”, and this guide will show you how to complete it!

Once you get to this part of the story, you will be working with Harrison for a very brief moment inside the hatchery. As the quest objectives state, you will need to shapeshift into one of the designated creatures first.

This does not work for your regular traveling morphs. Instead, go to the Morph menu and open the Special tab, where you can find the Shapeshift sub category. Here, you should select the appropriate creature.

Unless you have been completely ignoring all of the exploration codex side quests in the game, you should have at least one form that is allowed. Some examples of this include the following:

  • Scarab
  • Chestacean
  • Toximaw Spider
  • Sea Crab

Just hover over one of the possible morphs to see their classification. If it is an insect of any kind (which all of the examples above are classified as), then you should be fine. Just pick any of them and click on Add Designated Morph or just Instant Morph to transform immediately.

Full disclaimer, but I already finished the main story a while ago, so correct me in the comments if any of the above morphs didn’t work for you. They should though, especially the Toximaw Spider, which I do remember using for this.

Next, if you didn’t choose Instant Morph, you will need to transform by using whichever button is assigned to Shapeshift. By default, this will be the Page Up key on PC. If you are using a controller, hold the left trigger and then flick your analog stick to the lower left to select the Shapeshift option.

With this form, you can now approach the baby sandworms. Use your basic attack to quickly kill one and then walk away so that the others reappear. Morph back into your designated creature and repeat this step one more time to get two Potent Poison Sacs total.

NOTE: Play it safe and use instant single-target abilities or basic attacks to kill these worms. Trying to kill them with AOE seems to be possible but very inconsistent, as they will burrow down before your attack deals damage.

Once you have finished the first step of this quest, you will now have to examine the Soon-to-Hatch Egg at the end of the cave. This will spawn an Engraged Chief Sandworm that you must now defeat.

It is not really a boss, but it does have around 15,000+ health, so make sure you are topped up and have enough DPS to make short work of it! Once it is dead, just speak with Harrison again and leave the cave to complete this part of the quest line!

That is pretty much it for this part of your main adventure, which should be around halfway through chapter 7. Your reward will be some pocket change (around 8000 Sollant) and a handful of mana regen potions.

Did you know that you can play a quick recap cutscene of completed story chapters? You will need to go to the Amitoi House to do so, as that is where you will find the Memories of Adventure book featuring recaps of previous chapters that are fully voiced by the game’s narrator!

If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
