PoE – How to Hire & Assign First Worker in Settlers of Kalguur

Exciting news for old and new Path of Exile players, the Settlers of Kalguur expansion pack has just launched. It adds the new town of Kingsmarch which you will need to help build.

To do so, you will need to gather a lot of resources. This is where workers come into play as they will help you with various tasks such as mining, smelting, farming, etc. I will show you how to hire your first worker and assign them to work in this guide.

How to Hire & Assign First Worker

Before you can hire a worker, you first need to establish recruitment. You can do that by interacting with the hammer icon inside the Kingsmarch Building. In case of confusion, give our guide on how to establish recruitment a quick read!

Once you have established recruitment, interact with the NPC called Raulf, The Recruiter who will be standing next to the bar counter inside the Kingsmarch Building. After interacting, click on Town Recruitment.

Hiring Workers

You will get the menu shown in the image below. On the left side of this menu, you can see all the workers that are available for hiring alongside their cost and wage. Select a worker and then simply click on HIRE.

And on the right side of this menu, you can see all the workers that you have hired. Clicking on the small door icon located above the wage will let you release the worker. Selecting “Show Idle Only” will list workers that are not assigned to any work.

Worker Specialty

Each worker will have a specific specialty such as mining, farming, etc. And the better the worker, the higher their cost and wage will be. At the start, you will not have many options but as you progress, get more resources and build your town, you will find better workers.

Assigning Worker

The first worker that you will find available for hiring will be a miner. Hire them and then make your way outside the Kingsmarch Building.

Once you do, head to the west side. There will be a pickaxe icon drawn on your map. Go there and you will find a hammer icon which will let you establish Mining as you can see below. It will cost you 10 gold. Simply click on the UNLOCK button.

After that, interact with the information board outside the mining establishment called Mining Information. It is marked in the image below.

This will bring up the following menu. Now click on the manage workers button (marked below).

You will get the menu shown below. This is where you can assign the miner that you hired earlier by simply clicking on the ASSIGN button.

After assigning them, you can select the material you want them to mine. You can also remove workers from this establishment through this menu if you want to assign new workers.
