The New Patch 1.04 in Elden Ring brings a lot of changes when it comes to weapon skills. Most of them are huge buffs that will increase your damage and speed.
Players of Elden Ring have a lot of fun things to look forward to in the new Patch 1.04. Developers changed an insane amount of weapon skills; fortunately, all of them are buffs. But the real question is: which of the 60 Ashes of War should you care about?
Best Ashes of War After Patch 1.04 in Elden Ring
Ashes of War are items in Elden Ring that are similar to Weapon Skills. Some of them are unique to only one weapon while others are more versatile and offer several more options. The one you choose will be entirely up to your playstyle and build. Below are five Ashes of War that can be applied to various weapons.
Ash of War: Lion’s Claw
The Lion’s Claw was already great before the patch. It gives hyper armor when you are midair, and deals massive damage when enemies are hit on landing. Plus, the attack move is repeatable with a low cost of FP.
With the new update, it has gotten faster to cast and also faster to recover from. Overall, the cast and recovery time seems to be 30 percent faster, making this Ash of War one of the best you can use.
To get this item, head to Fort Gael and kill the Lion Guard inside.
Ash of War: Carian Grandeur
The magical Carian Grandeur is badass-looking as it makes a normal-sized sword into a gigantic weapon when you use the unique skill. Before the patch, this ash of war was a bit awkward to use as you need to charge it up completely to deal decent damage.
Now, cast time and recovery time are reduced. As if that wasn’t enough, developers also buffed the damage and stagger value of the attack when fully charged! What a buff!
This ash of war can be found in the ramparts above the Caria Manor, specifically by jumping off near the boss room at the top.
Ash of War: Hoarah Loux’s Earthshaker
Third on the list is Hoarah Loux’s Earthshaker, whose attack will leave your character screaming in anger and stomping on the floor. This skill allows a second input that slams down onto the floor for another quake of damage around you.
The wind-up was initially pretty long but now it has been reduced to about half as much. Aside from that, the damage and stagger are impressive. To get this, you need to trade in the Remembrance of the Boss.
Ash of War: Troll’s Roar
The Troll’s Roar Ash of War was already amazing pre-patch, but at present, it’s gotten even better. Particularly, the secondary follow-up hit is now significantly 33 percent faster, and the stamina cost has also decreased.
The only downside for this one is that the cast speed change doesn’t affect the roar itself. You can get this at the top of the giant skull beside the Church of Repose in the Mountaintop of the Giants.
Ash of War: Shield Crash
Last but not the least, the Shield Crash hits a bunch of times in a super-fast manner. Many Tarnished have been using it for the Bleed effect but in the shield version. Apart from that, this Ash of War is also a great shield as blocks enemies while casting the skill, so you are only vulnerable to attacks during the wind-up period. Fortunately, the cast and recovery time is also reduced.
To obtain the Shield Crash, kill the Scarab in the Lux Ruins.
