There’s a bifurcation in the road that the Last Train Home takes, so you have to choose whether to go North or South at a certain point.
The North sounds safer, as there are supposedly more allies there. But is that really the truth?
In this article, we’ll go over the key differences between North and South to help you choose your path.
Where To Go After Penza: North vs South
The game heavily implies that the North is a safer path, with more allies to find. Meanwhile, the South is full of Reds who are eager to get into fights with you.
As far as we can tell, this is 100% true! There are definitely more combat missions for you if you take the South path.
However, this does not mean that the North is actually safer or easier at all. In fact, most players seem to find it harder due to a scarcity of resources compared to the South.
Due to how the game works right now, Combat Missions and other such encounters are by far your best source of loot.
That means that the South has way more resources for you to find, as you’ll be fighting more battles. That is, of course, as long as your squads are ready to take on these battles.
To add to the resource scarcity, you’ll be able to get 4 more troops by going to the North. Meanwhile, going to the South will get you a free Armorer car for your train.
Ultimately, which path you choose should depend on your situation when you reach the choice.
If you have more than enough resources and are ready to deal with a bit more scarcity, pick the North. It’s also a good choice if your troops aren’t too prepared for combat.
Alternatively, pick the South if your troops are ready to face enemies head-on and you wish to get extra resources from combat encounters.
No matter which one you pick, you’ll find a challenge waiting for you. Just try to pick which challenge sounds more reasonable to you.
