Weapons in Everspace 2 come in different types, all of which can be obtained randomly when taking out enemy ships. Each weapon type also has a random rarity and modifiers put on it.

In this guide, we’ll go over which weapon types are the best in the game. These are as follows:

Flak

A favorite among players, the Flak is easily one of the best weapons in the game. While it might seem slow at first, it’s not that big of a detriment.

Each shot from the Flak cannon explodes when hitting enemies. This means it can damage multiple enemies at once if they’re close together. On top of that, each shot deals pretty good damage.

Its energy consumption isn’t bad either. It’s a bit middle-of-the-road, neither too low nor too high.

It also has an impressive effective range of 2200 meters which makes it second only to the Rail Gun. With its power and range, you can easily damage and destroy ships before they initiate combat.

As a bonus, it’s the best weapon for breaking down mining nodes!

Coil Gun

This Coil Gun has a fantastic range and an even split between Kinetic and Energy damage types.

It also has no gimmicks to its firing, such as ramp-up times or anything of the sort. Overall, it’s a jack-of-all-trades type of weapon!

The only actual downside to this weapon is its energy inefficiency. It can drain your power core quickly, so it’s best shot in bursts and paired with a more efficient weapon as a backup.

If you want a weapon that just excels at everything without bothering about energy consumption, this is your best pick.

Gauss Cannon

The Gauss Cannon is a fast-firing weapon with fantastic damage and top-tier energy efficiency. It’s the best weapon to deal high damage per second without having to worry about using up energy.

It also is extremely accurate, and even sustained fire won’t cause it to spread its shots too far apart.

However, there are some downsides. For one, the weapon has a slow ramp-up speed, so it takes some time to reach max fire rate. Additionally, it has a short range of only about 1200 meters.

This weapon primarily excels when fighting big slow targets at close range. If you can get used to its quirks, this is definitely one of the strongest weapons in the game.

Rail Gun

The Rail Gun is a very specialized weapon that fits the sniper archetype. It requires you to charge its shots for maximum damage. It also has high energy consumption, but its damage more than makes up for it.

On top of that, it has an amazing effective range of 3,500 meters, by far the largest range of any of the primary weapons in the game.

Combining its incredible range and high per-shot damage, this weapon will allow you to quickly destroy enemy ships before they can even react to you!

This weapon excels when combined with the Scout ship class which gets a bonus to its damage the further you are from your target.

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
