Teleporters are a very handy tool in Terraria. They work as you expect: activate them and you will instantly be transported to another teleporter!
They take a bit to get and set up but will save you a lot of time when they’re ready. You can’t be in two places at once, but this is the next best thing.
So, are you ready to start making the most of teleporters in Terraria? Here’s how you can get started!
How to Get and Use Teleporters in Terraria
The only way to get teleporters is to purchase them from the Mechanic.
But first, you need to find your world’s Dungeon and explore it. This is a unique maze that spawns on either the right or left end of your world.
As you explore the Dungeon, you will eventually come across the Mechanic. Help her and she will allow you to browse her shop. You can also invite her to your own base.
The Mechanic also sells Wrenches which you will need to place wires! Remember to buy Wrenches and Wires of the same color, however.
Teleporters cost 2 Gold and 50 Silver coins. You will need to buy at least two, as well as wrenches and wires if you don’t have enough.
In case you need them, the Mechanic also sells Pressure Plates and Switches. However, you can craft those yourself as well.
Once you’ve completed your shopping spree, it’s time to start placing and using the teleporters.
How to Use Teleporters
Equip a Teleporter in your hand and place it wherever you want. Next, place a wire that goes through its middle.
You now want to set an activator for this teleporter. You can place a Pressure Plate on top of it, but some players prefer to just put a Switch nearby.
Whichever you prefer, make sure the wire is connected to both the teleporter and the activator.
Next, place another Teleporter somewhere else. Just like with the first one, set an activator for it and connect it with a wire.
Lastly, just connect both teleporters by using the same wire color. Remember, you can’t mix and match wire colors! The devices won’t work if you do.
Your teleporters should now be all set up. Stand on one of them and activate it. If everything is set correctly, you will warp to the other teleporter!
It’s now up to you to experiment and make the most of them. One last tip: teleporters have no distance limit! Take full advantage of that to cover great distances quickly.
