In Slime Rancher 2, Lava Dust is used as an item for higher tier upgrades, unlocks, and crafting via Slime Science.
Lava Dust is viewed as more of a ‘late-game’ resource, but can be found earlier on in the game – specifically within Ember Valley.
Another Slime Rancher 2 resource means another walkthrough. We’ve got a handy ‘Where to Find Lava Dust Location Guide’ for all Slime Rancher 2 players.
Where to Find Lava Dust in Slime Rancher 2
Obtaining Lava Dust is a bit of a difficult task, and ensuring you have the Jetpack upgrade can help you more easily traverse the lava and dangerous surroundings in the caves of Ember Valley.
Naturally, Lava Dust is most commonly found in the surrounding areas of caves which contain lava – you’ll need to venture far enough until you reach Boom Slimes and plenty of molten hot lava.
Compared to other geysers like those that contain Primordy Oil or Deep Brine, the Lava Dust can be found through geysers emitting a similar black goop marked with sparkling fragments of lava.
You’ll want to head west once in Ember Valley and towards the mountainsides. You’ll begin to notice an array of gray stones where you’ll want to eventually pass the “Feral Slime” warning sign indication.
On the map, this is marked by the mountain range and abundance of fire. Be mindful of the Boom Slimes in the area, as they can explode once they get close to you. As we mentioned previously, having a Jetpack will be of huge benefit when you have to traverse around molten lava and slimes there.
Once you’ve located the overflowing, spouting geysers, utilize your VacPack to obtain Lava Dust.
