Pokemon Unite is a MOBA game. And like any other MOBA, the settings can either be a distraction or an advantage to players. Some configurations can help you in killing enemies; for example, target an enemy that has a lower HP first.

Your settings may differ depending on which pokemon you use. Melee pokemon can just attack a group of enemies together, but a range pokemon needs to target one before transferring to the other enemy.
It also depends if you play on the Mobile or Switch version of Pokemon Unite.

Hide other Player’s Names once Matchmaking is complete: Off
Show Trainer name above HP gauge: On
Boosted Attack Gauge: On
Cool Down Decimal Values: On
Highlight Outlines for Opposing Pokemon on Screen Edges: On (does not work on Switch)
Controls
Opponent Lock-On Priority: Lowest Remaining HP (Percent)
Attack Controls: Advanced Controls
Automatic Basic Attacks: Off
In-Motion Pursuit Distance: Standard
In-Motion Pursuit Mode: Off
Scoring Controls: Press Button
Lock-On Icon: On for mobile, Off for Switch (because it is hard to do it on the Switch)
Move Panel Sensitivity: Depends on your playstyle and the speed you are comfortable with
Camera Follows Moves: Off
Move Aim Follows Movement Direction: On
Move Aim Snaps to Nearby Targets: Off
Panel Placement (Horizontal)
Minimap Position: Top Left of Screen (Default)
Camera Sensitivity
Minimap Hidden: High
