With the amount of mechanics present in Melvor Idle, you might feel a little lost when you start the game. But once you understand how every system works, you’ll realize how intuitive they are. So, let’s start with the Skill Mastery System.
Levels in Melvor Idle work completely differently than in most RPGs. This makes learning the game’s progression system a bit hard to understand. However, it’ll quickly become your second nature once you know what you’re doing.
How Skill Mastery Works in Melvor Idle
Using every skill in Melvor Idle will give you some experience, affecting your level in that particular field of expertise. But, it will also give you the so-called item mastery level, associated with the object you were interacting with. So, for example, if you were planting and harvesting potatoes, you’ll gain both farming experience and the more specific experience in planting potatoes.
Milestones
Once you’ll get enough experience, you can unlock the skill’s milestones, which will affect your expertise in this field – for example, one milestone in fishing will make you stop catching junk. But the item mastery levels also have their own milestones – those will only affect your interactions with the objects you’re mastering.
Distributing Experience
Here’s the fun part – your main skill experience can be used to level up the item mastery level you want. This will drain some experience from the skill mastery, but unless it’ll cause you to lose a milestone, it won’t have a noticeable effect on the game. So, distribute your experience wisely to get the milestones you need – just don’t use up too much.
