Once you approach the endgame of the Sunbreak expansion, you’ll then come face to face with Afflicted Monsters. These are basically the more powerful versions of standard masters but with some new features added to them.

In this guide, we’ll talk about everything you need to know about Afflicted Monsters and how you can beat them.

Afflicted Monsters Guide in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Before you can start hunting Afflicted Monsters, you need to unlock them first. You can do this by beating Gaismagorm who is the final boss of the story at MR 10. From there, you can then unlock the Afflicted versions of monsters.

To unlock an Anomaly Quest for a certain monster, you have to beat its Master Rank version. After that, you can then do its Anomaly Quest.

How to Beat Afflicted Monsters

What makes Afflicted Monsters harder to beat is that they have higher health and damage than their normal versions. Apart from that, they can inflict the Bloodblight status which reduces your HP over time and your healing effect. However, this status will allow you to regain HP by hitting the monster back.

In order to beat these Afflicted Monsters, you need to hit the red glowing parts in their body known as Anomaly Cores. Hit these parts consistently until they pop and break, dealing lots of damage to the monster.

It will also revert it to its standard form for a certain duration. When this happens, you’ll be able to inflict more damage on the target monster.

Ideally, you’ll want to use Master Rank weapons and armor that are upgraded to the max. This way, you’ll have a much better chance of defeating any Afflicted Monster.

One important thing to keep in mind is that you won’t be able to capture these monsters. As such, the only way for you is to defeat them for their loots.
