Everspace 2 allows players to buy a wide array of different ships, but you will need to put some work in before you unlock the first ship dealer.
So, if you’re tired of flying around in the starting ship but haven’t found any ship dealer yet, this guide should teach you how you can buy your first proper ship!
Getting Your First Ship in Everspace 2
The first ship dealer you can find in the game is unlocked after completing the “Spares and Scrap” mission. It’s the 5th main mission after the tutorial, so you should get it naturally.
This mission takes place in the Nephtys Plains within the Ceto System. Complete it to gain access to the Nephtys Plains station which houses a ship dealer.
Make sure that you bring a good amount of credits! The cheapest ship costs about 12,000 credits while mid-range ships are around 30,000 credits.
Meanwhile, top-tier ships cost roughly 100,000 credits on average.
To complete the “Spares and Scrap” mission, you just need to fly over to the Nephtys Plains. You will find that a group of outlaw ships is attacking the station.
Defend the station by fending off every attacker! Take all of them down and the mission will be completed, allowing you to freely explore the Nephtys Plains.
Since you’re already so close to the station, just land on it and access the Ship Dealer menu. Here you will find a selection of ships and view their stats.
How to Use the Ship Dealer’s Services
Pick whichever ship sounds the most appealing to you and purchase it. When you do, you will get the 3 following options:
Buy & Transfer Current to Homebase – This option will change your active ship to the one you bought and send the old one to your homebase.
Buy & Transfer New to Homebase – Use this if you want to buy the new ship but you don’t want to fly it yet. You will keep using your old ship until you switch manually.
Buy & Sell Current – Buys the ship and sets it as your active ship, then sells your old ship. The funds earned from selling the old ship will go toward buying the new ship.
So, there you have it! We hope you enjoy your fancy new ship. You can swap your owned ships by using the hangar at stations and your homebase.
