You’ll need to buy a special kosode as part of the “Dress for Success” main story quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
If you want to impress Imai Sokyu, you’ll need to dress properly. A special kosode would be ideal here, as it would show proper tea ceremony etiquette. You just need to find the right merchant somewhere in Sakai to get it…
In this short guide, we’ll tell you the exact location of the kosode merchant within Sakai and how to help them.
Where To Buy The Kosode | Dress for Success Quest
You can buy the kosode on the southwestern corner of Sakai in Izumi Settsu, near the Port of Sakai. You can reveal the exact location by using Scouts, if you wish. But, since you’re already here, just go to the spot we’ve marked on the map above for you.
Once you get to that spot, you’ll see a lady merchant seemingly preparing a dye for clothes. Speak to her and inquire about a special kosode. Sadly, it seems that the nearby pirates are preventing her from receiving a shipment of silk. No kosode until she can get her hands on that silk!
Go directly west from the merchant and off the Port of Sakai. You should notice 3 large ships not far off the shore. Swim to the northernmost one, which is the one with the arrow in the image above.
Once you’re on the ship, you should see a small chest with a blue pip above it. That chest contains the silks the merchant needs, so you need to loot it. It doesn’t matter how you loot it, you don’t actually need to take out all the pirates on the ship if you don’t want to. Be careful not to get spotted and overwhelmed by them if you’re in higher difficulties, though!
When you’ve retrieved the silks, just go back to the lady merchant by the Port of Sakai. Give her the silks and she’ll ask if you want either a red or black kosode. This is purely an aesthetic choice and won’t impact the story, so pick whichever one sounds most appealing.
That’s all you need to do to buy the kosode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. You can now continue to “The Tea Ceremony” main quest, just remember which way to turn the tea bowl!
