TEVI is a 2-D metroidvania platformer where players have to dodge, slash and shoot their way through a world marked by enemies and conflicts.
In it, you play as the titular Tevi, a self-proclaimed genius who wishes to understand the truth of the infamous Astral Cogs which have the power to change the world.
And order to explore the game, you’ll need to unlock the various traversal powerups found throughout it.
All Traversal Powerup Item Locations
The Traversal Powerup Items are all unlocked in line with the game’s story and are mostly unmissable, since without them progression is stinted.
These upgrades unlock new abilities and methods of beating the various boss fights in the game. Below is a list of the available traversal upgrades and at which point in the story you will be able to unlock them.
Sliding
This can be unlocked after the very first boss battle in Chapter 3, should be presented directly to you. This will allow you to slide along the floor under obstacles and incoming projectiles.
Double jump
Also unlocked in Chapter 3. You will enter an area where the game will flag up that you can’t leave until its found. Self-explanatory, this will come in handy for jumping to unreachable areas and backtracking to explore new areas.
Bomb throw
Can be found in the Gothera Swamplands. Allows Tevi to throw bombs, opening up new passageways that would previously be blocked.
Air Dash
This will be unlocked in the Evernight Garden. Can allow Tevi to dash across pits, reaching new story locations for exploration.
Bomb Length
Found in the story area of Chapter 5, again you won’t be able to leave without it so it is easily presented straight to you. This will increase the length of your bomb throw ability, opening up new passages.
Fire resist ring
Found in the Magma Depths level. Allows Tevi to resist fire to a degree, to move through the magma level.
Water current resist
Found in Solonda Beach. This is similar to the fire resist ring; in that it will prevent you from being washed away by the strong water currents.
Jetpack
This can be unlocked at the start of chapter 6 and is an integral part of the story needed for progression. Allows you to fly into the air for a limited duration, accessing new areas for exploration.
Wall jump
This is given to you automatically at the end at the end of Chapter 6 and will allow you to continue to the next chapter.
White Rock Break
This can be found in Verglas Village in Chapter 7. Allows you to break down white rock that previously would block your path.
No Slip On Ice
This is an optional traversal upgrade that can be found insider Dreamer’s Keep. Does exactly what it says, stops Tevi from slipping when traversing across ice.
Slide Upgrade
Located in line with the story in the Dreamless depths. Upgrades the slide ability to go further for longer.
These are all of the traversal powerups that you are going to need to make your way through the game’s story. By unlocking each one, it is worth backtracking through the levels since you will now be able to access new areas with items to find and enemies to defeat.
