Akali is one of the many Champions you can play in League of Legends. She falls into the assassin archetype: highly mobile and capable of good damage but not usually the most resilient.

In this guide, we’ll tell you what to look for when building Akali. On top of that, we’ll also give you some tips and tricks to really help you make the most out of her powers.

Akali is a fairly easy champion to build for. Generally speaking, you’ll be using the same Runes and Items every time.

When it comes to Runes, you will want to follow the Precision path for your primary. This would go as follows:

  • Conqueror
  • Legend: Tenacity
  • Presence of Mind
  • Last Stand

These Runes will greatly increase her damage, as her abilities naturally synergize with Conqueror very well. This allows her to quickly build stacks which will boost her damage even more!

For your secondary path, you will want to pick the following Resolve Runes:

  • Second Wind
  • Overgrowth

Second Wind will help you recover some health when taking damage from champions while Overgrowth will help you get much more max HP by killing minions.

This Conqueror and Resolve setup is a solid overall build that works in almost every situation!

Aside from Runes, you will want to work toward getting the following Core Items in your build:

  • Hextech Rocketbelt
  • Sorcerer’s Shoes
  • Shadowflame

These items will give you much better Armor Penetration, letting you ignore other champions’ defenses. On top of that, the Rocketbelt’s Dash can help you get into range to use your abilities!

You will also want to use the Doran’s Shield early on, as its healing passive can help your survivability in wars of attrition.

With that build out of the way, here are some extra tips to make your Akali truly shine:

How to Play Akali – Tips and Tricks

The first tip is one that might come naturally to some players: input buffering.

When doing Akali’s Five Point Strike (Q key), click away from your target while the attack animation plays. This should let you do damage and get back to safety while your ability is on cooldown.

Do this properly and Akali will attack and then dash away from her target in a single smooth motion! Master this and you will be able to do more damage while avoiding damage yourself.

Another big tip is the Perfect Execution (R key) and Shuriken Flip (E key) combo. As soon as you land your Perfect Execution, press E while keeping the cursor on target to instantly do Shuriken Flip.

This combination does massive damage, so you will make it your bread and butter when fighting one on one. You need to keep some distance before using Perfect Execution, however.
