The “Unexpected Login Errors” prompt is an annoying networking error that affects League of Legends players sometimes.

This error will prevent you from logging in to your account, effectively preventing you from playing League of Legends or any other game that uses the Riot Games launcher.

In this guide, we’ll give you a variety of tips and tricks that should resolve the error and allow you to get back into the game.

How to Fix “Unexpected Login Error” in League of Legends

The first thing you want to try out is to simply log out and log in again.

Click on the small person icon on the top right of the Riot Games client to find your account options. Click on Sign Out and you will be back on the login screen.

Try logging in again to see if it works!

If that didn’t work, make sure you’re signed out and then close the Riot Games launcher and League of Legends, if they are open.

You might want to consider restarting your PC, as well. Open the Riot Games launcher again and try to sign in yet again.

If neither of these methods helped, check the Riot Games’ server status. You can do so by visiting this address: http://status.riotgames.com

Select your language and server. This will let you know if there are any issues or events going on with the servers, such as maintenance.

If the servers themselves are down, you can’t do anything but wait. If the servers are online and you’re still having issues, move on to the next method.

You can also try to restart your router. Turn it off or unplug it for a few minutes and then turn it back on again. Try logging in when you’re back online.

Alternatively, try disabling your VPN if you’re using one. Try logging in again while your VPN is disabled to see if it works.

If you’re not using a VPN, consider trying a free VPN to see if the issue persists. If you can log in while using a VPN but not without it, you might need to contact your internet provider for assistance.

We hope at least one of these tips helped you. Networking errors are extremely obnoxious to troubleshoot, as it’s hard to pinpoint the cause usually.

We recommend getting in touch with your internet service provider’s customer support if the issue persists. They should be able to identify the cause and fix it for you.
