There are currently 6 bosses you can encounter in Smalland’s world. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll list them in order of difficulty.

Don’t underestimate any of them, however! Make sure you’re well-prepared before taking them on, as all of them can pose quite a threat. Death in Smalland can lead to losing your inventory, so be careful.

Nonetheless, let’s go over each one of these bosses.

Rhino Beetle

You can find this boss on the southern shore of the western island. It’s required to complete a quest for Skadi which will unlock the Gecko Treat recipe.

The Rhino Bettle has 550 Health and mainly deals Blunt damage. Its charge attack also deals Pierce damage if you’re hit by the horn. As such, we recommend getting the Primal or Formic armor sets.

Additionally, it’s very resistant to Pierce damage. That means your bow and arrow will barely deal any damage. You will have to face it head-on.

Despite its bulky size, the Rhino Beetle can move quite quickly. You might want to use fast-hitting weapons such as swords. Other than that, just make sure to have good weapons and some healing items.

Wasp Queen

Technically, this boss is a sub-boss, so it won’t appear marked on your map. You can find it on a picnic table near Drustana.

It has 400 Health and deals every type of damage except Blunt. It can also poison you, so consider bringing some Poison Resistance Potions or antidotes!

Since the Wasp Queen mostly spends its time in the air, you will want to use your bow and arrow to attack it. Waiting for it to get in melee range will just drag out the fight.

As long as you have good aim and enough arrows, the Wasp Queen will go down very easily. It will drop the Wasp Head upon death.

Spider Matriarch

The Matriarch is in the southern forest of the starting island. It won’t appear on your map until you speak with Tuhala who’s in the western shore of the same island.

It has 650 Health and deals Edge damage. It also deals a lot of Poison damage, so you want to bring potions to resist and heal poison.

Killing it will allow you to craft the Healer set.

It also resists Pierce damage, so you want to avoid using your bow and arrow. Use whichever melee weapon you are best comfortable with instead.

This boss is not too tough as long as you prepare yourself to deal with its poison damage and have a good weapon. Preparation is key!

Giant Albino Spider

This boss is on the westernmost edge of the western island somewhat close to Lisandra.

The Albino Spider is also very similar to the Matriarch. It also has 650 and deals Edge damage. As you might expect, it will also deal Poison damage.

Yet again, this is another boss with high Pierce resistance to nullify your bow and arrows. You will have to rely on melee weapons like swords and hammers.

Due to its high damage, you should get the armor with the highest protection you can. The Regal set is a good one to try for.

Also, bring lots of Poison Resistance Potions to deal with the poison!

Black Hornet

This boss is on the northwest section of the western island close to Nok. It’s a very dangerous boss – think of it as a stronger version of the Wasp Queen.

It has 700 Health and can deal three different types of damage: Edge, Pierce, and Poison. It also mostly spends its time flying away from you, only sporadically diving in to deal damage.

Thankfully, this boss doesn’t have Pierce resistance! You will definitely want to stick to your bow and arrow for this boss.

Make sure to bring a good supply of arrows and Poison Resistance potions! Also have good armor such as the Formic or Primal armor sets.

Killing this powerful foe will give you a material for the Ironwing chest armor, which has the highest protection in the game and also allows you to glide.

King Stag Beetle

The strongest boss in the game, the King Stag Bettle is within the ruins of the southeast island.

It has a whopping 1050 Health – by far the largest HP pool of any of the bosses. It deals Pierce damage with its strong pincers and Blunt with its other attacks.

Like every other grounded boss, it has high Pierce resistance. You will want to get and use a strong hammer for this boss. The bow is useless here.

You should also bring lots of Health Elixirs and use a strong armor set. The Formic armor is good, but it’s even better if you have the Ironwing set.

Bringing down this fearsome foe will reward you with an Ancient Clover Seal. Bring it to The Elder to learn how to tame Damselflies.
