Zenless Zone Zero: Gacha System & Pity System | Signal Search Explained

Time to understand the gacha system of this game!

From the creators of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, comes Zenless Zone Zero. But unlike their previous games, it has a completely different, urban kind of vibe. The game is set for release on 4th July, 2024 on different platforms such as PCiOSAndroid and PS5.

Zenless Zone Zero has its own unique gacha and pity system. Understanding how the gacha system works is important as it will help you spend your resources more wisely. I will explain what Signal Search is and how it works in this guide.

Gacha + Pity System | Signal Search

In this game, the banners are called Channels and the act of drawing is called Signal Searching. Now there are two main types of channels: Standard and Limited ones. The standard channel is permanent while the limited channels will be available for a specific amount of days.

The limited channels are further divided into 3 categories which are for Agents, W-Engines and Bangboo. More information about these channels (banners) and how the gacha and pity system work for them is given below.

Standard Channel

Standard Banner

The standard channel costs Master Tape or Polychrome. There is a new player discount which reduces the cost of first five “10x searches” by 20% (meaning 8 Master Tapes instead of 10).

There is also a new player guarantee which ensures you get an S-Rank Agent within your first 50 signal searches. This will only be triggered once.

The standard base probability of getting an S-Rank Signal is 0.6% (0.3% for W-Engine and 0.3% for an agent). Within 90 signal searches, you are guaranteed an S-Rank signal.

And the base probability of receiving an A-Rank signal is 9.4% (4.7% for W-Engine and 4.7% for an agent). Within 10 signal searches, you are guaranteed an A-Rank signal.

300 Signal Searches

After doing 300 signal searches in the standard channel, you will get to choose an S-Rank agent for free from the following:

  • Grace Howard
  • Alexandrina Sebastiane
  • Koleda Belobog
  • Nekomiya Mana
  • Soldier 11
  • Von Lycaon

Limited Agent Channel

Through the limited agent channel, you have the chance of getting the current limited S-Rank agent. This channel costs Encrypted Master Tape or Polychrome.

The base probability of getting an S-Rank agent on a signal search is 0.6%. On 90 signal searches, you are guaranteed to receive an S-Rank agent.

The base probability of getting an A-Rank signal is 9.4%. This A-Rank signal can be for an A-Rank agent (7.05%) or an A-Rank W-Engine (2.35%). Within 10 signal searches, you are guaranteed to get an A-Rank signal.

Rate Up

This channel uses a 50/50 rate up system. Meaning that the S-Rank Agent (or A-Rank agent) you get has a 50% chance of being the featured one. If you do not get the featured agent then the next S-Rank (or A-Rank) signal you get will be guaranteed to be the featured one.

Limited W-Engine Channel

Exclusive W-Engine Banner

The Limited W-Engine channel has the chance of giving you the current limited S-Rank W-Engine. This channel also costs Encrypted Master Tape or Polychrome.

The base probability of getting an S-Rank W-Engine is 1% meaning that on 80 signal searches, you are guaranteed to get an S-Rank W-Engine. And there’s a 75% chance that it will be the featured one. If not, then the next S-Rank W-Engine you get is guaranteed to be the featured one.

And the base probability of getting an A-Rank Signal is 15%. It is further divided into 13.125% for getting an A-Rank W-Engine and 1.875% for getting an A-Rank agent. On 10 signal searches, you are guaranteed to get an A-Rank signal.

Limited Bangboo Channel

Bangboo Banner

The Bangboo channel is a bit different as it requires Boopon for doing a signal search. Through this channel, you can get limited Bangboo.

The base probability of an S-Rank Bangboo signal is 1%. On 80 signal searches, you are guaranteed to receive an S-Rank Bangboo with 75% chance of it being the featured one. If you do not get the featured one, then the next S-Rank Bangboo signal is guaranteed to be the featured one.

And lastly, the base probability of getting an A-Rank Bangboo signal is 15%. This means that on 10 signal searches, you are guaranteed to get an A-Rank Bangboo. The same 75% rate up for getting the featured Bangboo apply here as well.

What happens when you draw duplicate Agents

If you happen to draw an agent that you already have, then you will get their agent profile instead. The agent profile can be used to improve your agents and make them stronger.

Now that you know how the gacha system works, why not decide on which agent you want to pull when the game launches. I listed the best F2P agents in a guide that you might find interesting. Give it a look!

Whether it's the old classics like Final Fantasy, Advance Wars on the GBA, JRPGs like Persona 4 Golden, Disgaea on the Vita or mainstream titles like Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, Haider has played them all. Even with 200+ titles under his belt, his passion for gaming is just as strong as it was a decade ago. Writing has given him the chance to spread this passion with others.
