Soldier 0 Anby is the first new S-Rank Agent for version 1.6 of Zenless Zone Zero.

While we’ll completely avoid talking about spoilers here, Soldier 0 Anby is a new variant of good ol’ Anby from the Cunning Hares. This time around, Soldier 0 Anby is a powerful Electric Attack Agent who specializes in critical damage and the new Aftershock mechanic. Her incredible speed and aggressive playstyle make her extremely powerful and very easy to play.

In this in-depth guide, we’ll take a full look at what to expect out of Soldier 0 Anby’s kit, her builds, the best teams, and more!

Complete In-Depth Soldier 0 Anby Guide | Zenless Zone Zero 1.6

Key Abilities and Kit

Example of Silver Star Mark | Zenless Zone Zero: COMPLETE In-Depth Soldier 0 Anby Guide
  • Basic Attack: Penetrating Shock – Do up to 5 slashes dealing Electric DMG. Repeatedly press or hold Basic Attack after the 4th slash to repeatedly dash through the enemy up to 5 times.
  • Passive: Silver Star and White Thunder – Whenever Soldier 0 Anby hits an enemy, she will apply a Silver Star mark to enemies. These will charge up White Thunder on the enemy, which stacks up to 3 times. This is shown by the crosshair over the enemy turning white and glowing.
S0 Anby Posing
  • Special Attack: Celestial Thunder – Dash diagonally forward and unleash a cross slash which deals Electric DMG. Anti Interrupt is increased while active.
  • Special Attack: Azure Flash – If the enemy has White Thunder applied to them, this will trigger when hitting them with your Special Attack. One stack of White Thunder will be consumed to trigger Aftershock, dealing 1 extra instance of Electric DMG.
  • Special Attack: Thunder Smite – Triggering White Thunder 3 times on a single enemy will cause a lightning strike to fall on the enemy’s location. This deals Electric DMG and counts as Aftershock DMG.
  • EX Special Attack: Sundering Bolt – Anby throws her twin swords at an enemy and slashes them, dealing massive Electric DMG and fully charging Silver Star. Anby’s invulnerable while active.

Other Skills, Core Skill, and Upgrade Priority

Anby and Soldier 11 | Zenless Zone Zero: COMPLETE In-Depth Soldier 0 Anby Guide
  • Dodge: Strobe – A quick dodge, Anby’s invulnerable while active.
  • Dash Attack: Torrent – A horizontal slash followed by a stab, deals Electric DMG.
  • Dodge Counter: Ground Flash Counter – A series of quick slashes to the enemy in front of Anby, deals Electric DMG. Anby’s invulnerable while active.
  • Chain Attack: Leaping Thunderstrike – Leap forward, then quickly dive and perform a cross slash, dealing massive Electric DMG. Anby’s invulnerable while active.
S0 Anby Ultimate | Zenless Zone Zero: COMPLETE In-Depth Soldier 0 Anby Guide
  • Ultimate: Voidstrike – Anby does a series of slashes covering a wide area in front of her, finishing off with a powerful lightning strike. Deals Electric DMG and, of course, Anby’s invulnerable while active. This also fully charges Silver Star.
  • Core Passive: Voltage Gap – Soldier 0 Anby deals an extra 25% DMG against any enemies with Silver Stark marks. Her Aftershock attacks also further receive 30% of Anby’s CRIT DMG after marking an enemy with Silver Star.
  • Additional Ability: Voltage Surge – Activates when another Agent on the team is a Stun or Support. Soldier 0 Anby’s CRIT Rate will increase by 10%. When Soldier 0 Anby is the active character, all squad members’ Aftershock DMG to enemies with a Silver Star mark increases by 25%.

With all her skills laid out, Soldier 0 Anby is pretty simple to play in Zenless Zone Zero. You mainly want to focus on attacking enemies as much as possible with any of her attacks to play Silver Star marks. Then, cash out these marks by using Special Attack to deal high bursts of Aftershock DMG. She plays extremely aggressively and is simple to use, excelling when you boost her CRIT Rate/DMG and Aftershock DMG.

With that said, this is the recommended Skill upgrade priority order: Core Skill > Special Skill > Chain > Basic Attack > Dodge > Assist.

W-Engine Recommendations

Severed Innocence W-Engine | Zenless Zone Zero: COMPLETE In-Depth Soldier 0 Anby Guide

Like most other characters in Zenless Zone Zero, the best W-Engine for Soldier 0 Anby is her signature one: Severed Innocence.

Severed Innocence provides Soldier 0 Anby with a passive 30% increase to her CRIT DMG. Furthermore, she will gain a buff stack whenever she lands a Basic Attack, Special Attack, or Aftershock. This buff stacks up to 3 times, with each stack increasing her CRIT DMG by another 10%.

The effect lasts for 30 seconds, with each stack’s duration calculated separately, and can only be triggered once per use of a skill. If Soldier 0 Anby has all 3 stacks of the buff, she’ll gain an additional 20% buff to Electric DMG.

If you don’t have the budget (or luck!) to pull the Severed Innocence from the gacha, here are some other viable alternatives from best to worst:

  • Heartstring Nocturne
  • Zanshin Herb Case
  • Riot Suppressor
  • The Brimstone
  • Starlight Engine (Best F2P if you missed events)
  • Marcato Desire
  • Cannon Rotor
  • Gilded Blossom

Mindscape Cinema

Soldier 0 Anby Minscapes
  • M1: Static Charge – Makes it so that Soldier 0 Anby triggers White Thunder 3 times whenever she lands her EX Special Attack. To clear up any confusion with this Mindscape, this primarily allows her to trigger Thunder Smite with every EX Special Attack.
  • M2: Fail-safe Protocol
    • Gives Soldier 0 Anby a passive CRIT Rate increase of 12%.
    • Soldier 0 Anby will now gain 6 stacks of Thunder’s Cry whenever she uses her Ultimate Skill, up to a max of 6 stacks.
    • Thunder’s Cry will be consumed whenever Anby lands her Special Attack: Azure Flash on enemies with White Thunder marks. The additional effects of White Thunder are still applied and only 1 stack of Thunder’s Cry is consumed when hitting multiple enemies with a single Special Attack.
    • Basically, this allows you to trigger White Thunder marks up to 9 times per enemy instead of the usual 3.
  • M3: Past Glory – Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
  • M4: Silver Reverb – When hitting an enemy marked with Silver Star, Soldier 0 Anby ignores 12% of the target’s Electric RES.
  • M5: Director’s Cut – Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
  • M6: Prequel Protagonist – Triggering 6 instances of White Thunder’s additional effects will generate an electric vortex which deals 1000% of Soldier 0 Anby’s ATK as Electric DMG. This electric vortex counts as Aftershock DMG.

Overall, while Soldier 0 Anby does have some pretty solid Mindscapes, we can’t really recommend pulling for them in Zenless Zone Zero. Getting up to M2 might be worthwhile if you get lucky, but it’s otherwise better to just pull for her signature W-Engine instead.

Drive Disk and Stat Recommendations

  • Hitting Aftershocks and Dash Attacks that deal Electric DMG will give Soldier 0 Anby a buff of 4% ATK and 4% CRIT Rate. Stacks up to 3 times. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

Recommended Teams

Anby and Trigger Promotional Art

If you’re eager to use Soldier 0 Anby right from the get-go, we have some bad news for you. Her best teammate currently is looking to be Trigger. Trigger doesn’t release until the second half of 1.6, leaving Soldier 0 Anby without her best potential stunner at launch.

The main reason here is that Soldier 0 Anby excels by being on-field at all times, instead of only swapping in to take advantage of stuns like other characters. From what we know of Trigger’s kit via previews, she will be an off-field Stun Agent. As such, Soldier 0 Anby and Trigger seem to be the ideal pairing as of this writing. Add a powerful Support Agent such as Astra Yao and you’ve got an excellent team!

Worth noting, the A-Rank Stun Agent Pulchra could fill a similar role as Trigger in Soldier 0 Anby teams. She might not be quite as strong, but she’s more readily available.

Soldier 0 Anby Gameplay

With that said, here’s a list of what we expect to be the best teams for Soldier 0 Anby from best to worst, depending on what you have available:

  • Soldier 0 Anby + Trigger + Astra Yao
  • Soldier 0 Anby + Caesar + Astra Yao
  • Soldier 0 Anby + Qingyi + Lucy
  • Soldier 0 Anby + Pulchra + Astra Yao
  • Soldier 0 Anby + Pulchra + Nicole
  • Soldier 0 Anby + Caesar + Nicole
  • Soldier 0 Anby + Anby + Nicole (Best Full F2P Team)

That’s the end of our complete in-depth guide on the upcoming Soldier 0 Anby agent in Zenless Zone Zero. While some of these things might be subject to change when she finally makes her public debut, this should give you an idea of what to expect from the new Anby!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
