The developers of Wuthering Waves have previously made some games that are very focused on the gacha elements. This has made some people worry about how the gacha system will work in Wuthering Waves.
Is the game completely pay to win or is it viable to play for free? We’re going to answer these questions and more, so keep reading!
How the Gacha System Works
The Gacha system of Wuthering Waves is very similar to Genshin Impact’s gacha systems.
The gist of the system is that every 10 Modulations you will get 1 Resonator or Weapon which is rated at least 4 Star. 90 Modulations are required for a guaranteed 5 Star Resonator or Weapon. Resonator here just means pulls. The pulling currency is called the Modulation Keycode.
You can spend Modulation Keycodes to make Modulations. One Modulation requires one Modulation Keycode, and ten Modulations require ten Modulation Keycodes.
Modulation Details
The game informs the players of the exact Pull rates. Here’s the list:
0.80% Base Rate for 5 Star Characters
6% Base Rate for 4 Star Characters or Weapons
1.70% Base Rate for Reverberating Waveband of 5 Star Characters
2.50% Base Rate for Reverberating Waveband of 4 Star Characters
89% Base Rate for 3 Star Weapons
Based on these listings, you should be able to make your decision about how much money you want to spend on the game.
Reverberating Wavebands
Reverberating Wavebands upgrades the stats of each character separately. You can go through the various sequences listed and spend your wavebands on the individual nodes within each one. All of them do different things, such as increasing Spectra Damage or boosting critical hit rate.
Offline Resources
A lot of people are wondering how they can find the necessary resources for pulls or Modulations in-game for free. The answer to this is a little complicated. You can trade some Modulation Keycodes in-game for silver coins.
Exploring or being rewarded for doing certain delivery gives you Silver Coins. These deliveries can also just give you some keycodes directly, but these are usually just one or two.
There’s most likely going to be a lot of farming involved if you want to pull the higher-star characters or weapons. If not, you’ll have to pay real money. For now, keep in mind that the game is still in Closed Beta Testing, so maybe things will get better in the future. As of right now, the game looks very pay-to-win.
