One of the many objectives in World of Warcraft’s Midnight: World Tour is “Defend a Runestone at Saltheril’s Soiree in Eversong.”

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t provide you with a detailed explanation. It’s a bit vague, to be honest, but the activity itself is tied to an entire weekly progression system involving faction reputation, Runestone defenses, Latent Arcana farming, and Silvermoon Court rewards.

The objective can feel confusing the first time you encounter it since the game leaves out several important details. But once you understand the flow of the event, everything gets easier.

Without further ado, here’s exactly what you need to do to complete the objective.

How to Meet the Prerequisites

The first thing you need to do is unlock the Soiree itself by completing the quests for Lord Saltheril. You can find him in Eversong Woods at the following coordinates: 42.6, 47.2.

More specifically, you’ll need to complete theSaltheril’s Haven” questline, which is composed of the following:

  1. Saltheril’s Haven
  2. Honored Guests
  3. High Esteem
  4. The Subtle Game

These quests are varied depending on your choices, butthey all start and end at Lord Saltheril’s location. You’ll need to do these quests weekly, as you do them to decide which faction you ally with for the week.

Aside from Lord Saltheril’s quests, you also need to pick up the “Midnight: World Tour” meta quest by talking to Lor’themar Theron in the center of Silvermoon City, at coordinates 45.4, 70.6.

Once you’re done, find your chosen faction’s representative in Saltheril’s Haven and initiate the “Fortifying the Runestones” quest. Their location will roughly be in the area marked above.

Regardless of which faction you sided with, all of the faction representatives will hang out around the same spot in Saltheril’s Haven. They’re all fairly close to Lord Saltheril’s location, too.

Once you’re done with all of that, you can then start working toward the “Defend a Runestone at Saltheril’s Soiree” objective itself!

How to Defend a Runestone at Saltheril’s Soiree

At this point, what you need to do varies depending on your faction and their timed quests. You want to talk to your faction’s representative and take on all of their quests, as shown in the example above using the Blood Knights.

As you complete these weekly quests, you’ll get rewarded with Latent Arcana. You’ll need these to charge the weekly Runestone, so you want to collect as much as possible. Aside from the weekly quests, you also get Latent Arcana from Rares and random Treasures in Eversong Woods.

You’ll have to look for those since they seem to vary. It’s a good idea to look for them as you do set objectives, like unlocking the Triple-Lock Safebox.

Once you have enough Latent Arcana, look for your “Fortifying the Runestones” quest on the map. It’ll point you to the Runestone you’re tasked with charging, and this changes each week.

Upon reaching the Runestone, interact with it and click on Charge. This will spend your Latent Arcana, with the goal of filling up the Runestone’s Runic Shield to 100%.

As far as I can tell, you need to spend around 110 to 120 Latent Arcana to fully charge a Runestone. This is a rough estimate on my end, but it should give you a goal to strive for!

Anyway, get 100% Charge on the Runestone and waves of mobs will appear. Clear them out and a final boss will show up, depending on which Runestone you charged. Defeat them and you’re all done!

After the fight, you just need to return to your faction’s representative and confirm that you completed the Fortifying the Runestonesquest. This will also count for the Midnight: World Tourmeta quest.

Important Tips Before You Get Started

The event gets a lot easier if other players are nearby. Since Runestone defenses are public events, you can simply join ongoing defenses instead of fully charging a Runestone by yourself.

This makes it worth checking active events before you spend your own Latent Arcana.

I also recommend completing your faction quests and nearby treasures before you attempt the defense. This way, you don’t have to travel across Eversong Woods back and forth.

Final Thoughts

So, as you can see, the “Defend a Runestone at Saltheril’s Soiree in Eversong” objective in WoW: Midnight is a pretty involved one.

It requires you to start the Saltheril’s Soiree event at Saltheril’s Haven, pick a faction, and complete their quests every week for Latent Arcana. Charge up your assigned Runestone with that Latent Arcana, defeat the enemies, and you’re done.

Of course, that’s all easier said than done! This is meant to be a weekly objective, so don’t expect to finish it in a day or two. But at least now you know what you need to do.
